Derby at the Double Tree Hotel Catherine Grove Greenwich

edited October 18 in General Charlton
Just seen the Derby County Football Club coach down the side road that leads to the Double Tree, have to say I was surprised as from the outside it looks pretty ropey. Had a look at some reviews & while some were glowing there were a lot more very unhappy people. Maybe they are roughing it to get them in the right frame of mind for the rusty den tomorrow.

I stayed at the Greenwich Doubletree once. It was excellent and very good value.
  • Hopefully it will be Millwall who are up the creek tomorrow.
  • had afternoon tea at that hotel a few years back. won it an a raffle at CAFC quiz night
  • My mate stayed there after his wedding in the Queen's House in Greenwich Park. We were playing Leeds the same day, the year we were in the championship last, and they were staying there. Saw Gordon McQueen and a few other famous faces in the bar.

Great result that day....they must of had 80% of the ball but couldn't find the net.
  • Just seen Paul Warne and his coaching staff walking past my house round the corner from the Hilton.

Quite a few away teams use it, have seen Sheff Weds there before and also KR taking the whole Oxford squad for a walk round the block one Saturday morning.
  • Don't get the original post, it's probably the best hotel in Greenwich if you exclude the Intercontinental by the O2.

  • Since when did Charlton and Millwall start playing at home on the same day? I though that we always rotated home Saturday league matches, is it because our attendances have dropped so much over the police can now cover both games if required?

    Fixed that for you.

  • stayed at a few Hilton 2xTrees, good quality BUT like pretty much all hotel chains, since the pandemic, prices have got far too high, especially in 'football towns' near match day .. I guess that Pro clubs can negotiate a nice group discount
