  • MANNION: 7 Caught and punched well.
RAMSAY: 8 Defended very calmly. Showed great pace and strength in recovery. The sort of performance (especially considering the opponent) that gets you noticed.
A.MITCHELL: 7 Showed enough pace in recovery and seemed to be the organiser.
JONES: 8 Got very tight to his man and was dominant.
EDWARDS: 7 Looks very strong and I'm sure there's a lot more to come.
COVENTRY: 7.5 Very busy and did a lot of closing down.
DOCHERTY: 6.5 Good enough. Got up for quite a few headers.
ANDERSON: 7 Lots of energy. Doesn't have much of a touch but physically got the better of his opponents. Very fit and kept going.
A.CAMPBELL: 7 One or two touches that hinted at better things to come. So much fitter than the Blackpool game.
KANU: 7.5 Missed his chances but they were nearly all made through his own perseverance. Was able to drift a bit wider, where he could use his pace. Needs a goal.
GODDEN: 7 Disciplined in his closing down and had the penalty box awareness to nick a goal.
T.CAMPBELL: 7 Some strong runs late on to push Birmingham back.
Referee: 9 I thought he was excellent. Played on a few times when players went down, so players generally got on with it. The booking of Coventry sent a message to other potential time-wasters.

Aneke: n/a Nice cameo and helped run down the clock.
Small: n/a Put a loverly ball up the line for Campbell.
    Berry n/a

  • MANNION: 7 - Not much too do, claimed crosses well, as always
RAMSAY: 8.5 - Excellent in the tackle, very calm in defence and bringing the ball out
A.MITCHELL: 8 - Moped up well, Alfie who?
JONES: 8 - Moped up well, Jay who?
EDWARDS: 7 - Played well, some good positioning, still getting back to fitness
COVENTRY: 9 - EVERYWHERE! Fantastic from start to finish and shrugged off Stansfields petulant behaviour.
DOCHERTY: 8 - The player we all thought we were getting.
ANDERSON: 7 - Still lacks some quality on the ball but formation helped him, good pressing
A.CAMPBELL: 7.5 - Took him a good half to get up to speed, then made a real difference, hopefully more to come.
KANU: 6 - Good pressing from the front but then so has another forward.... and if it had been him who missed....well....
GODDEN: 7 - Not 100% fit I guess but he knows how to play his role, intelligent classy striker, must start.
T.CAMPBELL: 7 - Excellent when on, smart gamesmanship

Referee: 6 - Not the best but far from the worst.

MANNION: 6 Thought he did really well. Hard to mark, as the "YOU SHALL NOT PASS!!!" defence meant he had little of note to do. A few routine catches to make. And when he punches the ball, it stays punched!

RAMSAY: 9 There is no such thing as a perfect score, but this was close. Dare I say it, too good a full back for League One.

A.MITCHELL: 7 He is a proper, old fashioned, "blood and guts" centre back. Puts his body on the line for the cause, and employs no nonsense tactics. When under pressure, is happy to smash the ball into row Z. Nothing wrong with that, in my opinion.

JONES: 8 By far the best CB at the club. Was he beaten in the air, even once? My biggest criticism of NJ, is your captain should be someone who you wouldn't drop, unless he's injured. I would have made Lloyd captain.

EDWARDS: 6.5 Still recovering from being crocked. Ran out of steam a bit, as he is still working his way back to full fitness. Much better option than Small as a full back, rather than a wing back.

COVENTRY: 6.5 Strangely, compared to others on here, I thought it was one of his least effective games this season. However, as always, put in a great shift. The change in formation gave him more licence to get forward, so we saw him, at one point in the 1st half, being the farthest man forward.

DOCHERTY: 7 Much better in what I think, is a more natural position for him. Was involved far more than he has been all season. Good tenacity, and showed an eye for a pass.

ANDERSON: 6.5 Decent performance. I know he's a pretty good finisher, so playing farther up the field may pay dividends later in the season. A Duracell bunny. Running as hard in the 90th minute as he was at the first.

A.CAMPBELL: 7 We didn't sign him until late in the transfer window, and I think the coaching staff have been unsure of his best position. I think this is it. Not shot shy, and his harrying and hassling in that front four press was excellent. Should never have got a yellow card, for just wanting it more than his opponent.

KANU: 7 Difficult to score, as the metric of him as a striker is to score, and he very palpably failed at that. But his work rate in the front press can not be discounted. The chances he made, were all his own efforts. Does not seem to know what a "lost cause" is. We know he's a good striker. His record in the academy shows that. Maybe he has lost a little bit of an edge, by working hard for the team. If so, he deserves credit, not brick bats.

GODDEN: 9 MotM For me, one of the first names on the team sheet. Works so hard out of possession, and the intelligence of his movement stands out. Also, an instinctive finisher. I'm not saying he'll score as many as May did, but if he gets the minutes, he'll be up around the 20 goals mark. We do need to settle who plays alongside him, though. Strikers get better the longer they play together, as they learn about where their partners make their runs, flicks, etc. I assume, and hope, we're talking about Leaburn in the future.

T.CAMPBELL: 7 Good cameo. He has bulked up a lot in the close season, and has added strength to his undoubted pace. (In fact, have he and Chuks exchanged bodies? Because Chuks looks a lot trimmer, than he has looked for most of his career with us. Maybe it will help him stay fit for longer?) Ideal time for TC to come on, when the opposition defence are tiring, after being pulled about all over the place, by the work of Kanu, Anderson, et al.

  • MANNION: 7 - very little to do but dealt with a number of crosses very well. A large and reassuring figure
RAMSAY: 9 - MoTM: absolutely outstanding. He's the best one-on-one right back we've had for a long time. Anfernee Dijksteel was a fine player but maybe we have to go back as far as Chris Solly in his pomp. Quite why he was omitted for the Bristol Rovers game last Tuesday is something of a mystery, although we'll speak no more of it.
A.MITCHELL: 7.5 - another very solid and dependable performance
JONES: 8.5 - imperious. Won everything in the air and defended on the front foot. We must extend his contract.
EDWARDS: 7.5 - a very good defender. His corners are a big upgrade on Connor's and his long throws are a useful weapon as well. He was (understandably) in no great rush to take them as we ran down the clock, often drifting into the centre of the pitch when the ball went out of play. The benefits of having nearly 200 games under his belt at only 24.
COVENTRY: 7.5 - part of a very hard-working and effective midfield, which completely nullified Birmingham. We also passed the ball more than in most games this season
    DOCHERTY: 7.5 - ditto
    ANDERSON: 7.5 - ditto
    A.CAMPBELL: 7.5 - ditto. Much improved
KANU: 7.5 - great movement and industry. A shame about the misses at the end of the first half but thankfully it didn't matter in the end
GODDEN: 8 - a very good finish. The man has animal cunning in the box. Had another decent effort in the first half.
T.CAMPBELL: 8 - an excellent cameo. His pace frightened Birmingham and pushed them back
Referee: 6 - a bit fussy but ok
