Charluton Athletic FC would be the most accurate.

I'm sure it's made all the difference in growing our brand worldwide...2

Yeah that’s poor, nothing from the club should be referring to us as Charlton FC23

To be fair the first one could be mistaken for Crewe Alexandra. We wouldn't want an African Prince proposing a £100m cash injection to the wrong club do we 😄.SporadicAddick said:From:-

True, but it now means some people think we’re Charlton AFC, similar to AFC Wimbledon.golfaddick said:

Pees me off if say the Beeb or Sky or whoever say Charlton 1 Shrewsbury 0. They wouldn’t say Manchester 0 Arsenal 1. Should be Charlton Athletic 1 Shrewsbury Town 0. The Club should always, without fail, refer to us as Charlton Athletic.1

Charlton is fine imho in results or match reports.LargeAddick said:Pees me off if say the Beeb or Sky or whoever say Charlton 1 Shrewsbury 0. They wouldn’t say Manchester 0 Arsenal 1. Charlton FC or AFC is not.
The comparison with Manchester isn't valid as that city has two teams.
Refering to West Ham, Newcastle, Leicester is ok for brevity but if the FC is being used then the suffix has to be included.
Signage at the club should always included Athletic.
 Poor brand management.
It may seem a little thing but it is someting the club and its agents should get right.23

No issue with "Charlton" on TV / in press. Its not confusing and everyone knows to whom is refers. Manchester has two teams, so of course that would be nonsense (and why nobody does it).LargeAddick said:Pees me off if say the Beeb or Sky or whoever say Charlton 1 Shrewsbury 0. They wouldn’t, but there’s no ambiguity with us, whereas as you know there would be with ‘Manchester’.LargeAddick said:Pees me off if say the Beeb or Sky or whoever say Charlton 1 Shrewsbury 0. If you watch the Champion’s League or Europa League on German tv they always refer to Arsenal and Chelsea as Arsenal London and Chelsea London!LargeAddick said:Pees me off if say the Beeb or Sky or whoever say Charlton 1 Shrewsbury 0. Does the club not have some sort of Comms Style Guide where stuff like this is set out? It wouldn't need to be an epic like the famous ones of The BBC, The Guardian or The Home Office, but surely there's something even if it's just a section of the club's Branding Guidance (don't tell me, we don't have that either).
I'd expect it to state something along the lines of the following:
Club name: The full name of the club is 'Charlton Athletic Football Club'. This will be used in all legal communications. The preferred name for everyday use is 'Charlton Athletic'. The simplified name 'Charlton' may be used to save space or avoid repetition. The initials 'CAFC' may be used only in cases where there is no doubt that it could only refer to this club and not any other club with the same initials. The club's nickname is 'The Addicks'. This may be used for variety in informal circumstances. The former nicknames 'The Robins' and 'The Valiants' should only be used within their appropriate historical context. Other variations on the club's name including 'Charlton FC', 'Charlton Official' and 'CAFC Official' are the devil's work and may not be used under any circumstances.7

Wouldn't legal communication use the name as registered at Companies House, whatever that is these days, with possibly a "Trading as ....."Henry Irving said:

            Inconsistant but no Charlton FC1

The reason Manchester United is said in full when results are read out and Charlton Athletic sometimes isn't is because there is another Manchester team. I agree with the issue in terms of the signage though. If you are going to put the FC, you really need to add the Athletic.1
