Working abroad so haven’t kept pace with any of it recently but worrying to see Docherty get such low marks in the player ratings.
The bloke who was heralded as the new Kinsella/Dobson. I think it’s really important we have one of those.
Was he really that vanilla today?
His goal aside, I don't think he's really stood out in any of the games so far. Coventry has been far the better player.

A very difficult game to watch, and we don't have enough quality, which has always been my concern, we are far from shit though?

    Boring, yes, shit, no.

I am trying to take the positives, we are on 10 points, and on paper, that's promotion form in 5 games. It took us 8 games last season to hit this points total, so we are in credit. There is pressure on this Shrewsbury game now though, it is a must win, as they're absolutely pants. Need to win that if we want to be in the mix.

I also wonder if people would be more content if we acquired the 10 points in a different fashion? I.e., we lost to Bolton, drew with Reading away, and won the other 3 games. I think beating Bolton set some high expectations.

As long as we stay in the top6, and strengthen in January, I'll be happy. This squad does need more quality to achieve promotion though imo.
Saw you doing an interview at half time in the west lower concourse, but was with the kids and they seemed a bit intimidated by the lads you were with,  seemed a bit rowdy, otherwise would have said hi.

Agree with all the above. We are working hard, players are rightly bollocking one another for shit decisions. We have an animated and intelligent manager. Even if we don't get promoted this season, the future feels bright for the first time since Bowyer was let go. (Or since all the previous ownershit shenanigans).

If you're on about the group of 7, they were a bunch of Danish lads and sound as a pound, good crack. If you're on about the other 2, they were sound as well tbf 😂

Always feel free to say hello mate, just can't promise I won't attempt to stick a camera in your face is all  ;)

Agree he hasn't stood out. Expected him to be having much more of an impact. Campbell was immediately more visible when he came on.

Would have probably lost that last season. Draw fair result. I felt once we scored we played like we were happy with a draw. All in all ok. Need Leaburn back up front. Ramsey gets better every game. Great finish by Chuks. I felt him and Campbell linked up okay. Need to win at Shrewsbury next week.
Seriously ? Well we should avoid relegation if that's what you mean, no way are we finishing top 6
  • Equivalent results against these opponents last season:

    Wigan (A) 2-3 -> 0-1 Net: 0pts/0GD
    Orient (H) 1-0 -> 1-0 Net: 0/0
    Bolton (H) 0-2 -> 2-0 Net: +3/+4
    Reading (A) 2-0 -> 2-0 Net: 0/0
Rotherham (H) 1-2 -> 1-1 Net: +1/+1 (using Oxford (H) as the weakest promoted side to compare against weakest relegated side)

So four more points and +5 goal difference against same/similar opponents from last season.
In the season-to-season comparison, our next four games saw us pick up only three points last season:

    Shrews (A) 1pt
    Blackpool (H) 1pt
    Stevenage (A) 1pt
    Bristol Rovers (A) 0pts

A big chance to start to put distance between the points we picked up last season and this current season’s efforts.

  • It’s always a sigh of relief to me when @Blucher sees a game the way I saw it

Didn’t realise he played today.. and I was there!

Seriously he tracked back in the second half and made a good tackle. Apart from that, nothing. Even Ahadme contributed.
The frustrating thing is that Dobson finished the season in that position.

    Poorest player today
  • Bringing on fresh legs after sixty minutes is great, but unfortunately most of our midfield are knackered by then, so some of the benefits are nullified. 😩
  • Horrible game to watch if you were an impartial purist. For what its worth I thought we were ahead on points in the first half and some clumsy pressing cost us the goal.

Ahadme needs a goal he is working defenders and he looked a lot better with Godden up with him but I get why people don't like him. Unfortunately big, pacey, hold-up number 9s who can also score lots goals tend to exclusively play in the Premier league, The Bundesliga or Serie A.

Rotherham did what Rotherham or any side managed by Evans does, they go direct, push their luck with officials but they do compete and we didn't fold which was important.

We are screaming for some earlier balls and better delivery from our wide players, our most advanced midfielder isn't there to split defences he is there to get on the end of knock downs and clearances so the full backs have got to work on their final ball. I thought both were excellent today other than their crossing

Comparing this season to last & being happy with the improvement is a very low bar to set.

I'd be apoplectic if we do worse this season. Looking at the next 4 games coming up I'd be looking at no less than 7 points.
We got 53 points last season. I agree that’s a really low bar.

If we improve by four points every five games this season, we’ll end up on in the right range for automatic promotion after 46 played. That’s all I was trying to say.
    I like the logic
But we simply cannot beat the points total against every other team than we got last year.

Encouragingly our best performance of the season was against, on paper, the best team we have played so far.

Worryingly we have Plan A And no only Plan B is substitute the Plan.A forwards with Chuks + 1

I don't see enough in this side to get promoted.

Top half yup.   Good run at the play offs.

    Promoted.  I'm very doubtful.

Of course not, and we didn’t against Wigan & Orient because we had wins against them banked from last season. It was impossible to do better.

It’s not a perfect system but it’s another measurement to track our performance by. And so far, with improvement hopefully still to come, we’re doing ok.
    • MANNION: 7 two saves to make the whole game
      A.MITCHELL: 9
JONES: 7 at fault for the goal
      GILLESPHEY: 8
      RAMSAY: 8
BERRY: 6 found it tough going in the middle
      COVENTRY: 8 excellent again
DOCHERTY: 6 like Berry had to do
      mire defending today
SMALL: 5 worst player in the pitch today
AHADME: 8 worked his soaks off again win loads of headers and good knock downs especially for Berry chance .. but he works so hard
GODDEN: 7 like Adhadme very little service but worked so hard
      A.CAMPBELL: 7 impressive
ANEKE: 7 Glaring miss then wonder strike
T.CAMPBELL: 7 should have had a clear pen
Referee: 3 poor scared of fat boy I think
Sorry but there must be something seriously wrong with you giving Ahadme an 8 , he blasted the ball over from 6 yards when it was easier to score and most of the time falling over .

Seems you're one of those negative nellies. Coming out with that crap after five games?
And of course, in the event "We" happen to finish top 6, you will be doing the vomit inducing "Happy to eat humble pie' bollox.
Supported 'My' club. for nearly 70 years. So many ups and downs. Right now, there seems to be a project in place with some people who know what they are doing - finally. Rome wasn't built in a day -  so if you can't handle that, I would suggest you and all the other bed wetters, whiners and keyboard snipers fuck off and 'Support' another club.

A "negative nellie" ? What does that actually mean ? So recognising that we have no creativity in this team & strikers that rarely look like scoring goals is crap ? It's my opinion & I very much doubt I'll be eating humble pie but should "your" club finish in the top 6 I do hope you'll enjoy choking on your vomit when everyone with a different opinion to yours holds up their hands & says Lordy Lordy I was wrong. Bed wetters ? Oh I'm sure that you know all about that so you'd better fuck off & get your Tena pants on.
You genuinely want someone to explain what negative nellie means? You do like to wet the bed by the way
  • Ahadmes best game so far, but that’s not saying much, awful sitter to miss.
We have no goal threat apart from Chuks cameo’s, the TC striker experiment is hopefully over, much more affect out wide.
Small has regressed, all fur coat and no knickers, loves a step over but no end product of use.
Midfield has some battlers but no real creativity.
Gillesphey is average at best, come back quick Josh.
Ramsey was different gravy, head and shoulders above the rest.

A countdown to promotion thread appeared after three games, but a quote that we might avoid relegation appears just two games later. I think it's sensible to wait until seeing where we are after ten games. That's why people in the game who know what they're talking about often say it.
