Blackwall Tunnel Southbound closed this upcoming weekend -17th-19th August

edited August 14 in Match Day Travel
Anybody planning to use this route for the Orient home game will have to use an alternative route or public transport.

TFL warns drivers to expect roads and alternative river crossings in east and central London to be "extremely busy" with "long delays".

Queues along the A13 westbound between Canning Town and Whitechapel and on the approaches to Rotherhithe Tunnel throughout the weekend are expected, TfL said.

The 108 bus route, the only one that operates through the Blackwall Tunnel, will be split in two, running between Lewisham and North Greenwich, and between Canning Town and Stratford.

Alternative public transport routes to 'The Valley'.

DLR to Woolwich Arsenal & then Southeastern trains or buses 161,177,180 & 472 to Charlton.

Jubilee Line to North Greenwich & then buses 161, 180, 472 & 486 to Charlton.

  • Just as a matter of interest….how much is the return ticket on the cable car and how much parking is available on the north side…..I assume parking isn’t free?

  • It's mostly permit parking on the north side of the cable car AFAIK.

You'd be better off getting the tube to North Greenwich (West Ham have a 5.30 kick-off so it won't be any worse than normal at Stratford) or Liz Line to Woolwich.

Same closure also confirmed for September 7 (currently Rotherham at home).
  • Reminder for tomorrow.

  • Anyone know when the silvertown tunnel is planned to open and we cab get all these irritating closures out the way?

I'm travelling over from Essex today but going to do the Jubilee and bus from north Greenwich I think

Be interested to know how you get on.
You know you can pick the Lizzy up from Canary wharf save going all the way up to Liv st?
    Will you walk from Woolwich?

You can also alight Elizabeth Line at Stratford & get Jubilee Line to North Greenwich or DLR to Woolwich Arsenal.

It’s a couple of minutes walk, Lizzie line station is across the road from the old covered market. Plenty of buses available from the stops outside the OCM.
