The Lego Valley

This might turn into a long read but here goes.

During lockdown Adam Dobson combined two of his passions, Charlton and Lego, to build a to scale, detailed model of the Valley.

This was made easier for him as he was, at the time, a trainee architect (he's now qualified) with the firm that built many of the new stands at the Valley in the late 90s/early 2000s so had access to the original plans.

The club and the museum became aware of the Lego Valley about 2 and half years ago but for various reasons (space, time, transport, money, a stand and a case) it has taken a while to get the model, which is 1 metre square and 17cm high, to the Valley Room at the museum.

But on Saturday morning Adam and his father, pleased to finally see the model off the floor in his house, brought nine boxes containing the deconstructed Valley to the Valley Room which features many of the items we have relating to the Valley itself.

It took around 90 minutes to re-build the model and then place it in the specially commissioned Perspex case.

Then today, Sunday, it was moved on to the cast iron table bought to give it a stable base.

The model is as exact as it can be with even the new safe standing barriers in place.  This is a case of art imitating life as Adam, in his professional life, worked as an architect on that project with his employees, And Architects.
