I was at every home match last season. I’m commenting on the reality, not the paperwork. If you think you are stating fact, then evidently you didn’t go to many games (which is fine by the way, but don’t fall for the figures the club publish, they’re grossly inaccurate).
I've missed 5 home games since 1972.
Fair play. Can’t argue with that! I genuinely doth my cap to you.
(But in that case, can I ask you - do you genuinely actually believe that the “factual” average attendance was over 13,000, or even close…?! I feel like nobody who went to the matches could even possibly believe that let alone attempt to use it as a fact to justify their view on something)
anyway, bit of a pointless argument. I was exaggerating certainly, but we definitely got better real attendances for pre season friendlies than the real attendances for most of our league matches last season, because we are in a shocking state. And obviously that’s not solely down to the current owners, far from it, but actually there was a reasonably decent real crowd against Orient on the first day last season and that never appeared again due to the management and playing staff mess the current owners left us in.
Headline point remains - I hope with every bit of me they do well and earn credit, but the current owners have so far done an abysmal job and anyone who chooses to celebrate them and pat them on the back *at this point in time* has a screw loose, in my humble, myopic, shattered-glass opinion.
No wonder loads of those fans never returned ….i mean if you celebrate a junk win against the O’s like that no matter how anyone dresses it up you know we’d hit new lows
The official attendance figures include all ticket sales and comps. It's not bums on seats and hasn't been for many a year. I think our attendances may be more inflated than many clubs because a fair percentage of our S/T holders don't attend. i agree that many of our midweek bums on seats attendances have been around the 6/7000 mark and Saturdays more like 10,000.

Fair weather plastic. I bet none of those 5 were Premier League games.

I too am looking forward to getting behind NJ and the lads. We have some good players, but as has been said already - we’ve been here before.
The sale of May still grinds my gears but we will see how that plays out. This is my one area of scepticism so far - you just don’t take goals out of a team.
We will know by the end of October what our prospects are, especially if the club start saying it’s a long season/plenty of points to play for etc etc. We need to average 2 points a game for auto promotion - simple as that.
The question about May was how much his Mrs wanted back up north and how much Jones screwed it up.

Henry said "CM may well help with better commercial outcomes but doubling retail income seems ambitious."
I think coming at this from a negative perspective that Castore totally screwed up the retail operation, doubling turnover / income is possible, but that would still be a pretty low share of the clubs overall income.
I doubt they fucked it up so badly that they delivered only half of the available business - that would have been visible in stock availability, which was never an issue. Adding some mugs and babygrows won’t double it, nor would the offset of any margin share / licensing fee / whatever commercial agreement was in place.

Knocking out a few kilo a week should balance the books. CM be able to rent a pad up Shad Thames, for £12.5k a month, 'n all.
Retail turnover will increase because rather then getting just a fee and % from Castore the club willl get all the income but that is likely to be heavily offset by now having increased overheads including staff wages.
So far the stock is not that disimilar to last season other that more hats and scarves. Still no new badges or books though
How that translates into increased net, not gross, income we shall see.

Only those party to those original commercial agreements would know that and its impact on future revenues now they appear to be in the clubs favour.
