I watched the last half hour. Found it difficult to glean much from the footie, and allowing Brownie (whom I love) to go full throttle on anything remotely connected with Charlton was tough to endure.
Except that he and Charlotte said a number of interesting things both about the pre-season preparations and the investment in the infrastructure of the club, all of it positive. And as a CTV regular, I can assure you that Brownie has been One of Us in this time, desperately frustrated that the club has been starved of such investment.
I think it might be possible to believe that the ownership really has recognised the issues many of us have gloomily pointed out in recent years - and taken some pretty big steps to address them. Of course I may live to regret this, but I’m feeling more optimistic about the club at this stage than I have for years.
Can’t help but agree. Was thinking the same just the other day. Even things like bringing the club shop back in house, affordable merchandise, selling tickets there on non match days, the new pitch, allowing NJ to shape the squad how he wants it to look. It may not work out but we seem to be moving in the right direction and there is actually some joined up thinking with decisions being made.

Are you really sure that you are on the right forum? Optimism not normally allowed here, you will spoil the mood.
Whilst it is a big positive winning, it is also true that the game is about fitness and a means to an end. It all helps to add a touch of optimism for the season ahead though. I really have a feeling this is the season Kanu takes off.

It wouldn’t surprise me if any of Kanu, Anderson, Asiimwe, Zach Mitchell or Campbell really push on. Definitely think it’s too early to talk of loaning any of them out - it’s worth seeing how they all do in preseason and start the season. If it comes to it potentially loan some out at the end of the window if we have the depth and they’re not looking ready to make a genuine impact.

I’m not feeling it with Kanu , pace and work ethic very good , touch and feel for the ball far too raw for me to get excited about if he’s through on goal I don’t expect a finish
Training game basically .. players get home today have tomorrow off and play Tuesday .. that’s why it’s behind closed doors so they can do what they want.
Tried to watch the game. Basically have no idea if we played well as the picture was so shit.
However I now know that the grass on the pitch at the Valley looks nice and Mrs Brown won't be happy about the 12pm kick off on Friday, so it's all good.

That certainly interrupted his patter - thought he was going to stop talking for a minute

The club would like to apologise for the poor quality of the picture on CharltonTV during the first-half of Saturday's fixture against Göztepe, which came as a result of issues with our host broadcasters in Slovenia. Supporters can request a refund by emailing charltontv@streamamg.com. The challenges were due to the aforementioned issues in Slovenia and won't impact the remainder of the club's pre-season streaming. https://www.charltonafc.com/news/watch-crystal-palace-clash-live-charltontv
