    Dobson > Docherty
    May > Ahadme

Two incredible downgrades from NJ & AS (that have prevented us from moving forward).

It would have been hard to recruit any worse.
I don't know why people keep insisting on comparing Ahadme to May. They're completely different players and Ahadme didn't replace May, Godden did. Ahadme was signed to provide the physical holdup game that was missing last season - which currently he isn't - and Godden was signed to replace May in terms of finishing chances. Currently May has 5 league goals, but only 1 in his last 9, and Godden has 4 league goals in not far off half the number of minutes of May. It's absolutely fine to not rate Ahadme based on what he's shown so far but you have to be honest and compare May with his replacement if you're going to insist on doing that, and it's Godden.
I compare Ahadme with May because that’s where the money we got for May was reinvested.

We could have done a lot in this league with £775k but instead we wasted a large chunk of it on Ahadme.

The above (awful recruitment) is ultimately why we can’t do better than mid table.
Technically we used the May money on Ahadme AND Godden... Jones wanted to change how the team was playing, need to accept that. Godden is 1 goal behind May having played less minutes and for a rather ordinary mid table side that struggles to create chances. May apparently plays for the Harlem Globe-kickers who can spend £20+ million on a strikeforce.

Unfortunately, the hoof ball we're playing doesn't allow for the neat touches and decent holdup play Godden is capable of, that May couldn't do. Ahadme needs crosses and we don't put any decent ones in, although would be good to see how well he does with Terry Taylor's set-piece delivery now if he stays in the team.

If we are only comparing like for like players then Ahadme is probably Wickham’s replacement.

…& I think I’d rather still have Wickham!

Wickham produced about 3 really high quality moments in and around the injuries and palpable lack of fitness .
Which is about 38 more than the currently injured Ahadme who is on -35 for moments of quality shown

Thought he was ok tonight but was limping a bit and kept holding his knee. Didn’t exactly do anything that stood out which is worrying against an U21 team

He blocked a powerful shot, which caused it.
He put in a decent shift last night.

Serious suggestion: dye his hair a fluorescent colour so we can see where he is on the pitch at all times.

Yes that was my point .
  • My mind is finally made up on him, utter shite. Other than the goal against Bolton this was the first time I've noticed him, with a sending off.
  • Despite the fact I think he was a bit unlucky to be sent off today he has been very underwhelming so far. Not a captain either in my eyes.

I was very happy when I heard we'd signed him and yeah I thought he would be an upgrade on Dobbo. The reality is that he's been dreadful and I really can't see him turning it around.

How did he play so much for Hull, not only at this level but in the Championship? Invisible most of the time.

Bracing myself for Chunes' follow-up 'yeah and Coventry is Andrew Crofts: Slight Return'
  • Absolutely useless, same as A/Campbell, have totally fucked the club, paying ridiculous wages. The club need to come clean and say how much they have had the fans over by getting rid of the 2 best players we had, and then end up with dross!!!

What I find so hard to believe is that he's the club captain. I know that we've had plenty of poor players in recent years, but I've wracked my brains and I can't think of a captain who has been worse (either as a leader on the pitch or just doing their day job as a footballer). What on earth is he doing here?

I’m 38, been going since I was 11. This is undoubtedly the worst team we’ve had in my lifetime and it’s fitting that we have the worst captain in my lifetime (leading) the team.

I'd add Blackett-Taylor to that little clusterfuck of irreplaced exists.

    Mitchell should be captain

Like others this was a signing I was excited about. I thought he was very good for Shrewsbury even before he played for Hull. Bowyer tried to sign him previously.

Maybe he will improve or otherwise join the likes of  Scott Fraser and Marcus Madison as players who impressed me when playing against us but never cut the mustard as an Addick.

A manager's captain sets the tone for the squad and the season.

Terrible signing and choice as captain.

Useless and certainly no captain.  Give the captaincy to Mitchell.
