All Blacks v England

England take on the AllBlacks in Dunedin on Saturday.  England have not won in New Zealand since 14.6.2003 when they won 15-13.  Since then they have lost 7 games in NZ.

Our last victory over the All Blacks was a 19-7 win in Yokohama in the 2019 World Cup Semi Final.o

The last game against the ABs ended in a 25-25 draw at Twickenham on 19.11.22.

There’s special interest in NZ in the new coach Scott “Razor” Robertson, the new skipper Scott Barrett and his two brothers outside the scrum.  Razor is a real character who won several matches while coaching the Canterbury Crusadors up until last season and his victories would usually be marked by a crazy dance to the delight of his team and onlookers.  Interestingly, the Crusaders have had a poor season following Robertson’s departure.

  • I think the good guys will squeak it. Rumours circulating Scooter Barrett and Clarke out …
  • really looking forward to this, the ABs might have lost 4 or 5 top top players recently, but they are never 'weak', just re-building .. England after a poor 6 nations came good at the end v Ireland .. these 2 tests v NZ will tell us just how much England have improved and/or what needs to be done to get us back to the top of the R U international tree
  • Looking forward to Ireland v SA in their home. Can Ireland match their last trip down to NZ and win the tour?

  • So close, lead changing hands.  Great test match rugby. Could have gone either way.

    All Blacks 16.  England 15
  • Fantastic game, total commitment and could have gone either way. Very encouraging display from England.

Totally agree…..however I have never thought of Smith as being a top quality international place kicker. ….the truth of the matter is that he let us down.🫤
  • We lost that because of our kicking . Simple as that

Not bothered about poor kicking by McKenzie to be honest…..Smith palpably cost us the game.🫤
  • We go again on Saturday at Eden Park, Auckland, where NZ have not lost a Test since 1994, when France dazzled with their superb back line. The All Blacks have won 48 Tests and drawn 2 in those 30 years - they’ve beaten England 6 times.

The All Blacks make one change from the last Test with Finlay Christie coming in for the injured TJ Peranara at half back.

Hopefully England bring their kicking boots.
  • What time in the UK will it be on and is it on TV please?

    8.05am kickoff UK time.
  • A “Shot Clock” will show the time allowed to take a penalty, counting down from one minute.  This follows the ref’s decision to take a penalty off Damien Mackenzie and award a scrum to England - for taking too long to take his kick.  I’m not sure this has been used in NZ before.

there should also be a clock used and a time limit set for line outs .. the Boks especially take an age to get to the mark, then hold a conference or two, all to get their collective breath back .. the game generally needs speeding up, and yes, I know that RU is a very physically demanding game. I've no objection to 'water breaks' during which the time clock is stopped
  • Great test match atm. England 17 -13 up.

NZ unbeaten at Eden Park for 31 years.

    Come on England '
  • Ha lost 24-17. We went over at the final whistle,  but were unfortunately held up.

Really encouraging from England again, pack held their own, just about, against formidable opposition and at last our backs look to have a cutting edge. It's not rocket science, a ball playing fly half and two quality wingers who actually play on the wing for their club team. Still a bit frustrated by the amount of grubber kicks that lose possession when in a good position, but overall we are a young team who could be extremely hard to beat come the Six Nations. Great test match, a thoroughly enjoyable watch.

  • Aus v Wales .. James Botham, Ian's grandson, is having a terrific game in the Welsh back row .. a proper big chip off the old block !
  • Nearly an hour played in the first half of the SA v Ireland, Ireland lead by 10 pts at HT.
  • Ireland pinched at the end with a drop goal to win by a point, great game of rugby all round.
