it’s a yellow because there’s a covering defender right next to him, unlike yesterday

     :D  :D  :D

    'Covering' two yards behind.

  • He is covering, the flight of the ball (which you conveniently can’t see on a still) means that Jota can’t race away
  • Subjective decisions, so not a clear error then?

If a referee decides to give a yellow, it's his call and not a clear and obvious error. Hmm.

none of what I’ve said is subjective….
  • I actually don’t mind Arsenal that much. Liverpool, Chelsea and Man U are far more repulsive to me.
But I’m finding myself hoping they lose out on the title due to one objectively wrong decision in one match, just because @SELR_addicks will lose his shit.

    A genuine question here mate.

my Father In Law (RIP) was a lifelong City fan and a conversation I had with him when I was bemoaning what had become of our club one day he said to me that he enjoyed being a City fan more in the old days before this lot came along although he still supported them obviously.
my question is if a nation state bought us and propelled us to those levels would you still support us ?
You're no longer a local football club at that stage, you're a sports washing organisation of a Nation State. What connection do you have to the club at that point?

Sure the Man City colours are the same, but they have zero connection to the club they were beforehand.

Another year of football 'fans' clapping along to the death of competition.
Of course, being the plaything of an American billionaire alongside his NFL, MLB, NHL franchises is much more grass roots.

There are levels to this and obviously sports washing is gross.

But when you’re trying to take the local club angle,  football at the top level has been detached from its local communities for a long time and that includes Arsenal, Liverpool, Man U, Chelsea just as much as it does Man City.
Arsenal, Man Utd, Liverpool owners sell, the clubs are fine with their revenues and sustainability that they have built over decades of marketing.

Man City and their tied sponsorships leave? They're back to the Championship bankrupt.

115 charges can't come soon enough.
    Delusional.

City are at the top of the tree now, they've got one of the world's best academies, some of the world's best facilities, a squad that is probably worth 1.5 billion, and in the year they won the treble they pulled in almost 300m in prize money alone.

If Mansour sold them they'd simply be bought by another equally rich owner and any sponsorships deals made now would be tied to the current level they're at (the very top).

Claiming that the English champions who have no debt would suddenly be bankrupt is pure nonsense.

I’m also hoping it’s Man City that nick it off them, because then we can enjoy @Leuth pompously lecturing everyone on how disgraceful anyone who doesn’t agree with him is.

You aren't given sponsorships based on where you finish in the league.

You're given them based on how much worldwide reach and fanbase you have. Otherwise why are Man United still top of sponsorship revenue outside of the artificially inflated club.

Man City have nice shiny facilities, they have zero worldwide base outside of their fans in Manchester and a bunch of 5 years olds that support City, Barcelona, Inter Miami, Bayern and PSG.

Yes, quite - but City somehow even more grotesque due to their sheer financial supremacy
It's not even that right now, it's just how good they are because of Guardiola. This summer they spent less than Birmingham. In the last 5 years their net spend is 139m, which places them 11th, even below Palace.

City will probably keep winning until he leaves, and then the rest have a chance.
  • Thought Gary O’Neil gave classy interview given how the ref’s call went against Wolves.

That’s murky too though, Savinho was only so cheap because they bought him from one of their feeder clubs. A feeder club he never played for as he went on loan to another club in the City Football group for favourable terms
  • Liverpool right back stood there pointing at the second ball on the pitch while a goal kick is being lined up. Eventually it dawns on him, or more likely someone points out to him, that as he is the nearest player to it, err, maybe he can kick it out of play? 😂

Well surely where you finish in the league helps in some way because companies will want to sponsor successful teams.

In terms of fanbase obviously they're not going to overtake Man U anytime soon, unless their current demise continues for another 20 years whilst City keep winning trophies. But they're very popular in the US and they have huge followings on social media, so they clearly have fans somewhere.

I don't think you can underestimate that fans abroad will attach themselves to winners. City first won the PL 12 years ago so you've now pretty much got an entire generation of kids up to the age of around 17-18 who since they got into football have only ever known Man City winning things.

VAR, well in credit this weekend:

Kudus who was only given a Yellow card for kicking Van de Ven on the ground, then snapping his head back with his palm, slapped Sarr, and emulated Joey Barton on a night out. This was overturned by VAR who said come and have a look as you need to rescind the Yellow and give Kudus 3 Reds !

To the naked eye Jackson looked offside as he often is but VAR proved other wise.

Lots of other cases as well but I appreciate that isn't a popular narrative.
  • Is anyone able to tell me what Enzo Fernandez does in this Chelsea side?

110m and i don't think i'm exaggerating by saying i've never seen him have a good game for them.
  • Don't understand why the penalty didn't stand. Goalie knocks ball forward to Jones who puts it through goalies legs and gets wiped out. Why not a pen? Is there some funny rule i don't know here?

the argument is that the GK was successful in his challenge, think it could go either way
  • Man City had 48k against us last game of the season in 1985  when we were getting 5k when football wasn’t trendy and they averaged nearly 30k ish when in the third tier in 1999
    They’re not a minge of a club
I’m happy to see them stop all the other cnuts, long may it continue before Elon musk and Donald Trump take us over and we dominate the football world
Apart from Villa wouldn't mind them winning the league though doubt it will happen.

Nothing wrong with going against the flow. I do it all the time.

My football watching is about joy and entertainment (sometimes) yours is about technical accuracy (sometimes), we agree to differ.
  • Some magic feet from Anderson for Forest, waltzing around Palace defenders and then a sublime pass to Wood in which he should have hit the target.
It feels like two teams fighting for 14th place come May.
Chances being created but Forest haven't managed to score from their 6 chances after 22 minutes.
  • Good work from the England goalkeeper there.
    😎

Dean Henderson with a poor effort to keep out Wood's shot.
1-0 and Forest trying to keep Palace winless along with Saints, Wolves and Ipswich after 8 matches.
A record apparently for the Premier to have 4 clubs without a victory after 8 matches.
  • Palace have had one mighty transformation for the worst - 19/21 points in their final 7 games of last season to potentially 3/24 this season. Long may it continue!!!
