Would anyone have any photos of Francis Street in Woolwich.My Grandparents lived there until the street was demolished.I used to visit them several times and would like to
 see a photo of the street to bring back memories.

    Does anyone have photos of General Gordon Square when it had shops/houses around it.
    My Grandparents grew up on Shooters Hill. My childhood was full of stories from Woolwich, Charlton and Shooters Hill.

    Was there businesses where the Square is now, opposite the Equitable building?

    Yes this photo is from about the 70s may have been late 60s

    I found this picture which is the Thomas St side of the block that was demolished.

    On the far left is the pub Fortune of war? which was opposite the post office and sorting office. On the right by the white car is the turning into Wellington St.

    Apart from the sports shop there was a coffee shop, opticians and cafe bar on the corner. I'm fairly sure there was an alley way leading down to General Gordon square too.

    Alley way was continuation of Love Lane, i believe.

    I lived in one of those tower blocks when I was 3-4, remember I got a bike for my 4th birthday and riding it with stabilisers at the green at the bottom. I've no idea which block, we moved to Cardwell Estate the next year.

    Yes Club Sports was in Wellington St. on the same side as the KI and DG with the Regal and Town hall opposite.

    Kentish Independent was opposite the ABC/Flaming Joes

    My late FIL used to run Club Sports in the late 70’s until it closed in the mid 80s.
