There is a fantastic double page in the I newspaper by Kevin Garside.It focuses on the work that Steve Avory does. One of the things that stood out is the influence of Joe Gomez’s dad whose involvement is invaluable when talking to other parents.
I did try to download the article without success, maybe someone may have better luck than me as it is an excellent piece.
If England do well, I reckon there will be quite a bit of coverage on our academy. Kevin Garside has set the ball rolling.

    Including any player to have come through our youth, whether that means from aged 9 or joining us aged 16/17:

    1. what would be the best team available still playing today?
    2. Where would they be in the football pyramid if all playing in a team now?
    3 What's the total value of the 11.

    That lot would be a PL/Championship yoyo which isn't bad for a L1 team academy.

    Value something like £150M?

    Yes, only 32 (thought he was older and well retired). Playing in the Turkish super league and played over 30 games last season.  So I have subbed him in the 11 I had originally for Ajayi then.  Starts to nudge it to a team that would have a chance of surviving in the PL with the right side being the weak side

    9 games for Newcastle Jets last season and contract running out in a few days. Aged 32. So yes but at a pretty low level.  Don't think he makes the team ahead of Dijksteel who played 20 for Middlesbrough.

    I believe Pope was 19 when he joined, 

    I also think the £150m valuation is way past the mark.

    Gomez £25m
    Konsa £20m
    Lookman £25m
    Aribo £5m
    Doughty £5m
    Sarmiento £5m

    I'm not convinced anyone ekse is worth anything over a million.

    I believe Pope was 19 when he joined, 

    I also think the £150m valuation is way past the mark.

    Doughty alone was being rumoured as being wanted by Premier League sides this summer for 15-20m

    Largie Ramazani is another you could add to the list

    Players like Ajayi and Beadle aren’t going to be sold for under £1m. Ajayi’s still playing plenty of games in the Championship and Beadle’s been on loan at that level despite being 19.
