I’m genuinely interested in people’s thoughts on him wearing an Oxford shirt at Wembley ? I’m sure most don’t care, but doesn’t quite sit right with me
So what if he’s an Oxford supporter. He loves football and now has the opportunity to be involved as part owner of an our football club. I’m sure he does what he thinks best when it comes to Charlton.
I wonder if he will get involved with some rough and tumble with the Old Bill and end up on his arse, like one of our previous chairmen when supporting "his" club.
It’s not weird he’s there. I get why some might feel it’s a bit odd that as a senior official at CAFC, in the same league as Oxford, he’s decided to go full kit.
When Bonne starting liking Ipswich tweets etc there was anger from some Charlton fans. How is this different ?
Didn’t Bonne like tweets that were specifically when Ipswich beat us and he was playing for us? If it was Oxford v Charlton in the play-off final and he’s turned up in his yellow shirt when he’d actually have to be there in a working capacity for us then there would probably be some backlash
Methven supports Oxford. Good for him supporting his team at Wembley. He works for/has a small stake in Charlton. Everyone should have the capability to understand.
Well if I’m honest it bothers me a bit I suppose but can understand why it doesn’t bother others.
Just makes me think how ‘nothing’ and insignificant our club has become. It feels like over the last 10 years the soul and identity has been steadily kicked out of it.
In his situation I’d expert him to be there. I know he doesn’t support us and we are just an opportunity to make money. But I’d expect him to be somewhere in corporate dressed in neutral smart casual. I can’t think of too many club fanbases where the lead person at the club is at Wembley wearing the shirt of a team in the same league as them, cheering them on and there not being some form of backlash.
That just doesn’t happen really (except for us). I think we’re just collectively tired of everything so it’s all just ‘meh’.
it's one of the biggest days in the history of the club he supports, he absolutely should be there supporting in whatever way he wants It's quite nice to know that we've got someone involved at the top of our club who understands supporting their local team

It doesn't bother me that he's there, but I too would have expected him to be in the directors box or a corporate area dressed "neutrally", rather than in an Oxford shirt. It just looks a bit odd for a senior executive to be so overtly supporting a direct rival of us.
Bit weird. Especially that he's supporting a team in our League and will likely celebrate them going up when we're still sitting in League One.
He's also useless at his job, if he was good then I'm sure I'd give him a bit more allowance to be an idiot.
Different world but could you imagine the Chelsea owner turning up tomorrow to Man City, wearing a City shirt, to go and celebrate their title victory?

If Bonne went to an Ipswich play off final wearing an Ipswich shirt it wouldn’t matter. At the time, it was the fact that it was anti-Charlton rather than pro-Ipswich that was the problem for me.
Methven in his retro Oxford shirt doesn’t bother me. Hope he enjoys his day out.
I know this is unreasonable, but it annoys me a little. I think it’s that he’s there wearing the colours of a team who are (or, more accurately, were) in our league that makes it slightly worse.
In the grand scheme of things it doesn’t matter, but I do agree that the club really feels in a bad place at the moment and we desperately need to get this transfer window spot on to start trying to turn things around.

Hardly "de rigeur".

but means we are a business to him so no real connection to us other than £££.

I've lost count how many times i've seen former players and staff (having moved to a new club) pop up in the Charlton end.

Gutted Bolton are staying down, as they’ll probably take a top 6 space, next season.
As for CM, he was always going to be there, he’s a boyhood Oxford fan, I would be surprised if he didn’t go.
so we had an owner who didn’t show for Wembley, now have a minority owner who watches another team. Only at charlton
charlie is a minority owner.
