I am going to start this week by being boring. (Yes, alright, I always start by being boring). A few things to note about this final week of the 2023-24 Prediction League:
- Kick-off times are all over the place this week. Particularly, the Championship games kick off at 12.30 on Saturday. Predict in good time!
- If you pick a Cup Final, the score at the end of normal counts - if you correctly predict that Bromley will beat Solihull Moors 5-4, but it's after extra time, you won't get any points!
- When the Prediction League started in 1892, there was a rule that you needed to make predictions to score any points in the last week—you could not claim the average for the week even if it was the first time you had not made a prediction. This rule still stands.
- If two or more competitors tie on points at the top of the Premier League, the title will be shared. All other positions will be based on alphabetical order (next year, it's reverse alphabetical order)
- Finally, as the competition ends with a game kicking off at 16.30 on Sunday, I will try to publish the final League Tables on Sunday evening rather than Monday.
Right, that's enough admin for one week. It's a good time to say that it's been a fantastically close competition this season. Since the fifth week of the season, eight competitors have held the top spot. They are:
@Chippycafc (12 weeks),
@Chris_from_Sidcup (6 weeks),
@thecat (5 weeks),
@Covered End (3 weeks),
@barstool (2 weeks),
@WestSussexAddick,
@AFKABartram and
@Sonicstud85 (1 week). It is still quite possible that someone who has never been top will win this year's competition. Good luck to everyone this week, particularly to those competing at more humble levels.
