Wycombe Wanderers vs Charlton AthleticSaturday 27th April 2024 - 12:30pm Kick-OffReferee: Elliot BellIntroductionAround 2:30pm we'll see or hear the Referee blow the full time whistle, not just on a single game of Football but the season as a whole - The curtain will come down on what has been a dismal year, with the players already on their holidays - Its a reminder as well, of the early kick-off, I wouldn't want any Charlton fans missing what could be another drab encounter as we run down the remaining 90-minutes of the 2024/25 season in Buckinghamshire, and I can well imagine the Crowd going Mild when that full-time whistle is indeed sounded.
The OppositionName: Wycombe Wanderers (10th) - Manager: Matt BloomfieldGround: Adams ParkPrevious League Result: Cambridge 1-1 WycombeAm so excited for the season ending, I thought I'd release this Preview a day earlier than what I've previously been doing it - The Addicks come into this game knowing that no matter the scoreline, we'll be finishing in 16th place... Wycombe on the other hand, well they sit tenth going into this rip roaring clash, they cant go forward anymore, but they can slip to as low as 14th, although that particular spot would require the craziest of results given the Goal Difference... albeit something Northampton fans already have experience of.
I guess going into this last game, the question should be asked... How have Wyeombe themselves done this season, impossible to say really having seen just one of their games, but they'll be heading into this match, looking to avoid being just the second side to lose both League games against the Addicks this season, what with having lost 3-1 at the Valley back in September, courtesy of goals from Miles Leaburn, Slobodan Tedic and Corey Blackett... None of whom will be in the Charlton squad this Saturday.
That particular defeat would result in the Chairboys winning just two between October and January, both of which came against recently relegated: Carlisle and Fleetwood... The end of February though has been a bit of a renaissance for our opponents, and whilst inconsistencies have been an issue for large parts, they've only lost twice since, at home to Barnsley and Portsmouth - In terms of final day encounters, Wycombe seem to enjoy this time of the year, since 2018/19 they've won three, and drawn just once on the final day.
Meaning that the Addicks may well have to settle for a rare draw... I mean at this stage, who really cares?
Charlton Team NewsI imagine there wont be many amongst the fanbase hoping for drastic changes in the Playing Staff this coming summer, meaning that we could well see a last outing in a Charlton shirt this Saturday for a few individuals - Those who we can hope to see involved next year, are the likes of Kayne Ramsay, Thierry Small and Alfie May... the rest still have work to do, to improve on this season.
Elsewhere and whilst its been a baptism of fire for Karoy Anderson, and Daniel Kanu, you'd hope that this season has given them the experience to kick on with the First Team into next year... I'm off to spend my summer by the River Lethe, for those of you who know your Greek Mythology!!

Why change a good thing?
Just happy to close the door on this season, hopefully Alfie can play 90 minutes and score!
A comfortable 0-4 would be good, but really, just a clean sheet win will be a nice positive ending to a very iffy season...COYR
It has been a poor season with not too many high-points, so good to finally draw a line under it. Roll on 2024/25!
There is no parking available on the day of the game; all passes in the upper tier must be pre-booked via tickets.wwfc.com for £10. The lower tier car park is fully booked.
Street parking is also available in the vicinity of the ground, however, supporters are warned that traffic wardens patrol the area regularly and we would ask you to park sensibly, respecting our neighbours in the Sands area.

So many disappointments from this season. Surely next season will give us more to cheer.
Hopefully NJ has identified some class signings for us during the Summer months and will be given the money to assemble a strong squad to achieve a promotion place next season.
Have a happy Summer everyone, we all need it.
I think we will see next season’s reserve keeper Ward between the sticks and if Jones is now recovered a back 3 of REG Jones Gillesphy.
For those going enjoy. I'll be tuning in from Perth, WA.
We currently have a win percentage against Wycombe of 58.33%. That is the highest against current League One teams, Burton at 54.55% are the next highest. Despite the win percentage being high, we don't keep clean sheets against them. We have a clean sheet percentage of just 8.33%. Only Cheltenham (0%) is lower against current League One sides. It is also the lowest percentage against any side that we've ever kept at least 1 clean sheet against in our history.
Continuing on that theme, our clean sheet percentage across all games this season is 11.32%. If we fail to keep a clean sheet tomorrow that will drop to 11.11% our joint third lowest in our history. Only 1956/57 (4.55%), and 1960/61 (9.09%) were lower.
Last one - And this is more optimistic, our joint top scorer all time against Wycombe is one of our current players.
Unfortunately he's injured though. With 2 goals Miles Leaburn is level alongside Bradley Wright-Phillips and Nicky Bailey.
Leaburn is also the only current player to have ever scored against Wycombe in a Charlton shirt.
This time out:
Personally think we should go all out attacking, but realistically we'll see something like the above.
I feel it will be a high scoring yet close game. 3-2 or thereabouts to us.
