  • 2 - 2 muted celebrations from Stockley with a brace.

My only fear with Stockley is his heading ability, have we got a CB who can match him in that case. He used to be good in the air in defence as well, assume he will not be marking Alfie or Daniel at corners 😁
He didn't used to mark anyone at corners, he just tried to head the ball before anyone else did. He was pretty good at it.
  • 2-3 to Fleetwood. Stockley to score a hatrick in front of the Jimmy seed then run the whole length of the pitch to the covered end. 5 minutes later when he arrives he rips his shirt in two and gives it the Hulk Hogan ear cups to all four stands.
  • I'd give Anderson the week off - not even on the bench and play Bakinson

think we'll win this one 1-3 and continue the decent form, Kanu and May both on the scoresheet again
Play Wickham and start May behind Him and Kanu

  • Stockley was a frustrating player at the end of his time with us. A whiney moaner on the pitch, but a great captain off it. And no other player has ever given us his gravy recipe!

    Saturday 16th March 2024 - 3pm Kick-Off
    Referee: Tom Reeves

    Introduction
18th March 2023... its madness to think that we've pretty much  had to wait a whole calendar year, three Managers, an endless amount of players, and a grand total of 47-League games - Thats the last time for anyone who is currently lost and confused (easily done reading my drivel), that we won back to back games in League One, until last Saturday of course when we finally put Carlisle United to the sword with a 3-2 victory - Only four times since 2021-22 have we won a whopping three games on the trot... Dizzy times as a Charlton fan.

    The Opposition
Name: Fleetwood Town (22nd) - Manager: Charlie Adam
    Ground: Highbury Stadium
Previous League Result: Fleetwood 0-0 Bristol Rovers

Trying to stop us from what would be an impressive feat in recent seasons, are another side struggling for their lives... and as has been discussed on CharltonLife, they really are struggling for their very existence as a Football club - Even survival may just delay the inevitable, given the trouble their owners have been in.

However our trip to the Lancashire coast wont be an easy one - Fleetwood themselves are in the middle of an "impressive" run, having lost just the twice since the beginning of February, with only one of those coming at Highbury Stadium, no not that one... (Always need to get that one in) - On the other hand they've only won three games, so are turning into fellow draw specialists at present, but back to back 0-0's in their last two games have meant that Charlie Adam is turning his side into a difficult proposition to break down.

Leading the Fleetwood ranks will be Jayden Stockley who has ten goals to his name this campaign, with seven of those coming since the appointment of Charlie Adam as Manager; Stockley won't be the only ex-Addick in this Cod Army (Gettit) with Gavin Kilkenny, Brandon Wiredu and Junior Quitirna all potentially up against their previous employer.

    Charlton Team News
The Addicks ranks have been surprisingly bolstered in recent weeks, with Connor Wickham joining on a short term deal - It was the type of signing that appears out of the blue, and having been training at Sparrows Lane for a number of weeks, was able to make a useful cameo last time out... Joining him on a short term deal looks to be Kazenga Lua-Lua, with the Addicks awaiting International Clearance, so could well be another to appear on the bench come tomorrow afternoon.

Elsewhere and there is no stopping the partnership of Alfie May and Daniel Kanu; the two Strikers are building a nice little partnership and have seven goals between them since the arrival of Nathan Jones - Thats one area of the pitch I doubt we'll see broken up any time soon.

    Isted
    Edmonds-Green - Jones - Gillesphey
    Watson - Dobson - Coventry - Small
    Anderson
    May - Kanu

    Substitutes Bench: Maynard-Brewer - Hector - Thomas - Lua-Lua - Campbell - Wickham - Ladapo
Sorry to spoil your joke and one does not wish to be pedantic, but the Arsenal ground in Highbury was called the Arsenal Stadium. 🏟️
    Great quiz question though.
  • Amazing to think how quickly things have changed. The recent run has all but finished our relegation fears but I will never forget how finished we seemed at HT at home to Lincoln. The run carries on, 1-1.

    That`s totally captured my imagination.
  • Fleetwood win with a Stockley headed penalty.
Well done that man! Love it.
  • Hoping for a nice relaxing win today. Stockley to reprise his best CAFC whining and arm waving…
  • Think we’ll win reasonable comfortably. They are not very good and we are on a roll.
  • Even Stockley can score against our still porous defence.

1.4 May hat trick and Stockley own goal.
  • Alfie May to drift in from the deep and plaice the ball in the angle - 1 0 to the Addicks - Cod Army left trawling near the bottom.
  • It's a game we should be winning but I fancy Fleetwood will turn up & give us a real run for our money
So I reckon a draw is on the cards hopefully I am wrong & we get the win
So COYR LET'S DO THIS 🙂

TBF, didn’t he once get a goal for us when the ball ricocheted off his arse. If anybody is likely to score by standing around and waiting for one of our defence or goalkeeper to gift an open goal then it has to be him
  • The addicks to go unbeaten till the end of the season and finish top half.

    0-3

The way our season has gone we will finish 7th and one point off being 6th…
  • Still a cautious old boy and not safe until 48 points... Will take a draw at a horrid place to go and those fans going deserve a medal for such a long trip. I hope they get a win after such a dreadful season.
  • Can’t wait to see Stockley to stop running and throw his arms up in frustration when their winger doesn’t cross him the ball even though he is being covered by all three center halves - brings back such fond memories
  • 3v2 Charlton win

He has it in his locker to be decent too, so I wouldn't be tooooo confident just yet. But would be great to see the moany version on the opposition team.
  • 5th clean sheet of the season incoming!

With LuaLua signed, it wouldn’t surprise me to see Ladapo drop out the squad.

I think it’ll either be an unchanged team or if not, Gillesphey dropping to the bench to make way for one of Jones or Hector with Thomas moving to the left.

    Fleetwood 0-2 Charlton
    May
    Wickham
  • @Sage. Good point about Ladapo. I think you expected a lot more of a showing from him?

It’s been disappointing from Ladapo. I really thought when he scored against Lincoln it would be the start for him but he’s not kicked on. Fully expected a lot more but he’s not looked as sharp as I expected.

He’s had to play different roles in games, and I know Kanu has been excellent, but it also says something about Ladapo that Kanu has been able to hold the ball up better, and run in behind more effectively, and keep his place throughout.

He won’t be kept for next season, but I do think another club in this league will sign him and he’ll score goals.

Reminder to one and all that we’ve not suddenly become Real Madrid.
Thank (insert deity of choice) for that. I’d hate us to be the favourites of Franco and his ilk.
