Most of our songs are sung at a silly fast speed, and all songs are the same as most other clubs, singers need to up their game and slow it down, and it’s red & white army! 😁
It worked at Cheltenham in a small away end, but these wordy chants don't ever work at home because not enough people know the words and the ground just claps along until they get to the one or two words they can recognise.
The simpler the chant, the more people join in, the better the atmosphere.

I don't recall hearing the Kanu song at all at Cheltenham, it never caught on down my end of the terrace!
Bloke near me in the WU tried to start up the following; Daaaan Ka-nu, nu, nu Push pineapple, shake the tree, Daaan Ka-nu, nu, nu, Once he scores 1 he’ll score 3….
Brave. That's dreadful.
I know, but they’re all old guys up there (+Braziliance) so I gave him a lil smile anyway…
33 in a couple of months mate, well on my way 😂
I like the Kanu chant, it's fun and he seems to like it.
In regards to lyrics not being entirely accurate. I've only ever had a season ticket in the North West Upper or the West Stand, yet I still belt out Valley Floyd Road and the part about being in the Covered End Choir..
My logic is, as long as everyone is making some noise, it's better than no noise. It's hard to make a decent, original song and then get people to sing it with you
Give us a C….Give us an H…..Give us an A….Give us an R…..Give us an L…..Give us a T…..Give us an O….Give us an N……and what’ve ya got…..etc etc. Early 60’s.

Ah come on, we're allowed a bit of poetic licence in our chants, if it helps spur the players on. I dunno, next you'll be complaining that we aren't "by far the greatest team the world has ever seen"

I think we should follow the lead of Beyoncé, get ahead of the curve and go for a country and western themed tune, maybe include a line or two with a step to the right and a step to the left etc so the fans can dance along to it at the same time.

Jesus Christ. You're right, let's be as stats-based as we can and sing songs to our players like it's their workplace annual review. 'Saturday night afternoon and I like the way you move, Daniel Kanu. Is currently in decent scoring form but before that has struggled to get himself on the scoresheet as much as we'd like. In mitigation he's only 19 and his first 10 games came last season when he was just 18 and being played too early due to poor squad building. Mostly he appeared from the bench sometimes for just a minute so it's stupid to go by games played anyway but regardless we hope he improves his scoring record at this level and that his recent record is evidence of ongoing improvement rather than temporary good form. DANIEL KANUUUU!'
Thing is, the song is very addictive, you find yourself singing it all the time, plus Kanu appears to like it, so for me there is no need to change it.
Thanks. I am unfamiliar with this being an old git.
Oh mate you missed the dance at the discos! My Daughter was 4 when this came out and we heard this in Spain (and did the dance every night) a few weeks before it was released in UK. Knew it was a sure fire hit and the kids loved it. As was "No Limits" by 2unlimited the next year.

Yeah, rolls off the tongue that does.
Row row row your boat
Gently down the stream
Merrily merrily merrily merrily
Kanu plays like a dream.
Professor Harold Bloom is impressed with the play on boat/canoe aspect of this lyric.
