A few years back Derby County went into administration. Outside the transfer window.
Now, I know a points deduction is automatic, but how can the administrators do their job, if one of the most valuable commodities the club have (the players) can not be sold because of some arbitrary time scale, set up by an organisation with no financial interest (the EFL) in how the debts are paid?
And let's not forget, that in most cases administration is brought about because of money owed to HMRC. So, in effect, hitting all of us, no matter which club you support.

It shouldn't be allowed, in my opinion.
Clubs can sell players whenever they like. New club just can't register them until the window opens. Allows clubs to get bargain basement deals on players, we have done it ourselves a few times over the years.

Not many players would want to move in September or October though, knowing they'd have to wait until January to play again. Or in February or March.

They would still play for their current club until Jan 1st, the club in administration just gets to put the money on their books and pay off creditors

What if they haven’t been paid for two months? Guaranteed wage and no football v no wage but minutes.
The punishments need to be standard and transparent, not the EFL dishing out different deductions and fines per club. Need to also be in the season the cheat occured. We did not benefit from S Wed misdemeanours but were punished with unfair relegation.
Quite right. I would make the following changes immediately if in charge.
1. If you have the word "Crystal" in your name, 10 points deduction every season. If you have the word "Palace" the same. Have both and make it -30. 2 If you have a stadium near Thornton Heath, immediate relegation one division. 3. If you have a stand named after a supermarket, make it two divisions relegation 4. If you pretend to be the oldest club in the UK you have to move to Litchfield and become known as Litchfield Eagles. 5. If you ever knocked the St John's Ambulance charity, you are wound up, liquidated and any property assets are immediately returned to municipal dump status
Think that should cover it and act as a suitable deterrent to most clubs that need punishments.
