  • Not picking up any points when we played them is starting to look like it might have been a clever ploy if you ask me…

A few years back Derby County went into administration. Outside the transfer window.

Now, I know a points deduction is automatic, but how can the administrators do their job, if one of the most valuable commodities the club have (the players) can not be sold because of some arbitrary time scale, set up by an organisation with no financial interest (the EFL) in how the debts are paid?

And let's not forget, that in most cases administration is brought about because of money owed to HMRC. So, in effect, hitting all of us, no matter which club you support.

It shouldn't be allowed, in my opinion.

Clubs can sell players whenever they like. New club just can't register them until the window opens. Allows clubs to get bargain basement deals on players, we have done it ourselves a few times over the years.

Not many players would want to move in September or October though, knowing they'd have to wait until January to play again. Or in February or March.

They would still play for their current club until Jan 1st, the club in administration just gets to put the money on their books and pay off creditors
