My old Mum was from Bolton.
Have an irrational feeling they may do us a favour here just when we need it.
0-1 Chuks (98mins)
St Jones the Baptist pulls off a miracle.3 -
they are a much stronger, better organized, quality filled team. We are shambles, insecure, lacking confidence, leaking goals, terrible form and some pretty ordinary players. If true to form we will get “ipswiched” at 6 zip. 4 zip would be a good result. 2-2 a fucking miracle. I’m going for 2-2, because we need a fucking miracle and it also allows us to sing the oft considered “Nathan jones walks on water” ditty.0

Bolton might as well save us the petrol money and hand over the 3 pts now. Easy 0-2 away victory.1

Based on the Lincoln game yes, based on his overall performances before that game, I’m not so sure. His height and physicality has been useful, and he has got himself into scoring positions in every game. Problem is, he can’t shoot. But maybe they can work on that?cafc_se7 said:Please Bakinson nowhere near the starting 11.1 -

Bakinson scores v us 2 seasons ago0 -
Over the years there's been plenty of crappy old teams that have waltzed away from the Valley with the points.
Time for us to reverse rolls and do one over these 'better' teams. Come on NJ time for the old Henry V battle cry.4 -
Terrible record against Bolton. If we get a draw up there it will be a miracle.2
-
If we can just pull off a win in one of the next couple of tough games that would be a huge confidence booster for the squad. My head is telling me it won't happen, but my heart says an upset is always possible.2

I'm all for manager's being more involved than Appleton, however Carlos Corneron seems to have taken things a bit too far.
They used to say that Warnock kicked every ball from the sideline, but...

Can see this being 4/5-0 today0

4 or 5 goals is a bit ambitious but to think we are going to keep a clean sheet as well is probably a step too far…Charlton43 said:Can see this being 4/5-0 today4 -
3 wins since 1955 says it all really.
If we stop patty caking the ball around and just go at them we might cause an upset, Park the bus though and we're be lucky to get Nil.3 -
If this was 3 or 4 weeks ago under Appleton I'd be resigning myself to a heavy defeat.
He seemed utterly incapable of making effective in-game changes and the players had lost belief in him. 1-0 would quickly become 3,4,5 I think.
I sense under Nathan he's trying to instil more resilience, so that we don't cave in when we go behind.
For all sorts of reasons we might still get hammered but I've a feeling we will be very competitive and maybe with the strategic and effective use of Chuks we can cause enough havoc up front to give ourselves a chance.
We' ll need a bit of luck, particularly in relying on the defence to hold firm.
But I am going to join in with this flight of fancy fromm some that says we might pull a result out of the bag.
And if we don't, as Nathan says, we'll learn from it and be better next time.
I do think our quest to turn things around is disproportionately relying on Chuks being fit and available though.
1-2 Charlton and my bottle of red will taste sweet tonight2 -
Alfie May is on the bench today, not a joke.1
-
Obviously NJ is wanting muscle to hold up the ball and keep their defence 'busy' so May is being sacrificed. I think NJ is going for 0-0 best case scenario.BR7_addick said:Alfie May is on the bench today, not a joke.
If we put in a shift across the team I can foresee numerous cards. Hopefully no reds.0 -
Not surprised... Didnt see the effort from him on Tuesday compared to Kanu.BR7_addick said:Alfie May is on the bench today, not a joke.3 -
I think May could do with a rest. He said himself his goals come in periods and then he has a dry spell and it’s obvious he’s trying too hard. Imagine his energy with 30 mins left after Kanu and Ladapo have tired out their defence7

Plus he’s small, the Bolton defence are not small in the slightestfenaddick said:I think May could do with a rest. After the final whistle today, I hope us Addicks supporters can simply say, typical Friggin Charlton winning up there

As much as I think May is a machine, albeit a little one, think we need to show a bit of confidence in Jones' decision and see where he's going. Either that or May is shattered and this is a forced change7

Hopefully the second coming that is Nathan Jones will result in a resurrection and not just a crucifixion.1

Can’t see Chuks starting, at least he shouldn’t do, so are we thinking Kanu and Ladapo start up top. Don’t disagree with benching Alfie for a game, needs a rest and has been very frustrated recently. I know some will moan but we need to allow NJ the freedom to pick who he thinks is the best team to get a result. Better drop Bakinson though too otherwise I’ll be lividBR7_addick said:Alfie May is on the bench today, not a joke.

What would be the difference starting Chuks until he's had enough as opposed to the general consensus that he should only be playing the last half hour / 20 minutes?0
-
Never as effective when he starts and makes a massive difference when he comes on against a tired defence.

Always seems to be the consensus that we will be losing with 20 minutes to go...which is a shame, but I do think winning or losing, he does seem to play better and make his mark as a late(ish) subGribbo said:What would be the difference starting Chuks until he's had enough as opposed to the general consensus that he should only be playing the last half hour / 20 minutes?0 -
Injury enforced subs, meaning you have no option but to leave the big man on........and we all know the risks involved in that.Gribbo said:What would be the difference starting Chuks until he's had enough as opposed to the general consensus that he should only be playing the last half hour / 20 minutes?2
