In the dog house, cleaning advice needed.

In need or urgent assistance please, boiled some eggs this morning and the water from the hob spilled over. I wiped with a microfibre cloth and it seems to have melted fibres from the cloth onto the hob and now I can't get it off. I've applied Pink Stuff cream to it and scrubbed with scourer of a sponge.

Mrs has come home and is absolutely fuming, we only had the hob a week.

There must be a way this can come out, does anybody know?!

    Suspect that you might need to warm fibres slightly to soften them and then carefully scrape off.

    Use a razor blade scraper.

    Can’t do the link but look for hob scrappers on Amazon. I’ve used them on an induction hob and they work but just be as gentle and patient as yor can. 
    Edit: if you go down this route use metal rather than plastic scraper the plastic ones are useless.

    Vim and some medium grit wet n dry should do it.

    You need to turn it on to melt and as it is cooling wipe it off. Easy fix

    Is it ceramic or just glass?

    Baking soda and/or white vinegar may help, let it soak in, but looking at the picture and if it's just glass you may have already scoured it.......

    It is a ceramic hob yes, hopefully that means good for me?!

    heading to B&M down the road now, hoping a hob razor will do the trick. Will keep you all posted and thanks everyone for your responses

    Could be if you heat up the hob very high then the fibres will melt further, blacken, crisp up and just brush off 🤷🏻‍♂️

    Having a self catering cottage I have become a master in cleaning everything.
    We have a ceramic hob and it’s always being left scummy 🙄
    This stuff is what I use with a bit of kitchen towel.
    It’s non abrasive (you have to be really careful not to scratch the hob) and it will come off with a bit of elbow grease.

    The problem you have, unless you sort it, is that every time she uses it, she is going to be angry with you. You can buy cleaning products and specialist scrapers, reasonably cheaply on ebay. Then you have to pray you don't make it worse.

    Our hob looks like that a few times a week at least. They are a pain to clean, tried in the first few weeks but they get all kinds of stubborn stuff on them. Often when they get hot enough they self clean anyway. My philosophy - kitchen stuff is made to be used, not look like new!
