RIP. I really liked him, and saw him as one of the great people in our society. He was a vegan, but as a veggie myself I liked his stance regarding turkeys and Christmas. RIP Benjamin, you enriched our world.
I interviewed him back in about 2005, meeting him at Newham Bookshop where he spent a lot of time. He didn’t have to, there was nothing in it for him, but he was gracious with his time and very engaging.

He had a theatre of 15/16 year old school kids hanging off every word and it’s something I’ve remembered every time I’ve seen his name.

I've not read any of his poetry books yet, but I recommend his autobiography, The Life and Rhymes of Benjamin Zephaniah; available at all good libraries.
