Why Is Our Away Form So Rubbish?

  • It's not as bad as some of you make out.
We will top up mid table this season.
I will then have 3 new grounds to look forward too next season.
  • It's nothing new. When I first started watching Charlton in 1982-83, we were similarly shit away from home. Not only shit but took some proper hammerings too. QPR, Brighton, Burnley, Rotherham, Bolton, Portsmouth....all smashed us out of sight.

These things go in cycles and there have been some fantastic away years (I've seen 111 away wins) but overall it hasn't been great. To win away, you need to keep clean sheets and we don't do much of that these days.
  • Everybody needs to be able to defend. (that's a full stop)
  • I think it’s down to three inter-related factors: an inability to defend properly, individually and as a unit; a lack of leadership and hardened experience; and a generally weak mentality.

What we would give to be able to pick up a couple of players like Steve Thompson and Terry Naylor.

Could really do with an uptick in our away form to get us out of trouble, got to be down to mental strength, character and desire to not concede goals, running  through out the team.

Cpupled with the fact we’ve had a clueless manager with a duff hand played to him at times, but Apples really did not help himself.

Also think we’ve really missed Miles since he’s been out injured / not had a suitable guy up front who can hold up the ball.

Tedic didn’t really work out, it’s the 31st of January, and we still haven’t signed a decent replacement for Miles.
