Half- Term open training session in October

Charlton fans will be able to see the men’s and women’s first-team train in a special event at The Valley on Wednesday, October 25th.

Taking place during the half-term break, supporters can watch Michael Appleton and Karen Hills put their players through their paces from 1pm, with doors opening at midday.

    Glad this is free rather than the £10 charge for non-members levied a couple of years ago.

    And half term is an ideal time when parents will want to get their kids out from under their feet for a couple of hours/give them a life expanding experience.

    True but parents (ie me) also plan more than 2 weeks in advance so my two are booked into clubs. Shame, would have liked to go but need more warning for this sort of thing.

    Pulled my kids out of their kids club for the day and their aunt and uncle were kind enough to take them.

    They watched the training and then sat and listened to the coaches before joining the queue for signatures - they then spent 2.5 hours waiting!  They were there until gone 5pm.

    Kids happy, their aunt and uncle (not football fans) less happy. 🤣.  No way I would have waited that long so lucky I wasn't there.

    I drove by at 2.30 to pick my lad up who did the music for this event. Big queues along the back of the North as @Henry Irving said & I pitied those waiting. Just good job it was a nice day for it.

    It wasn’t perfect.

    i saw the training session ok but then my kids wanted to look in the shop.  We bought a white kit to get signed but by then were pretty much at the back of the queue.

    we waited.  And waited.

    we queued for over an hour before we had to go as we had cinema tickets booked.

    i was told earlier that they had to turn some people away (which would have included us) because the players were both tired (getting home at 3am after Lincoln) and getting hungry .

    Maybe next time

    Did you have a warm down, shower and get changed after the game?


    And did you drive straight home or did you get a coach to the training ground and then picked up you car after which you drove home.

    Thought at the time it seemed a silly day to arrange it for. Why not have left it until the Saturday/Sunday of the probable Northampton game postponement?

    A bit like the kids in the queue?

    If people were turned away then that's disappointing. 

    If I were a player, and kids had come to meet me, I'd be there until the last kid was met.
