The Charlton Champion closed during the summer, but if you're looking for a fix of Kevin Nolan's match reports, head on over to the all-new Greenwich Wire...
Kevin and his very fragrant lady used to sit right in front of me when I had a ST in the front row of west upper. A very studious observer and an excellent writer.
"The Addicks have earned a reputation, whether justified or not, as soft-centred patsies ready to buckle under pressure. They need to toughen up and learn to give as good as they get. And waste no more time in climbing out of this God-awful division!"
"Pearce will probably give way as soon as the club comes up with a smooth, corporate-savvy replacement for Holden. The new man will probably bite the dust, as have a succession of anonymous time-servers, just as soon as results take a downturn and the whole dreary process feeds on itself. "
"In the early days of Appleton’s tenure, it’s already possible to detect a new professionalism about Charlton, an unfamiliar, bloody-minded streak which is a welcome, overdue addition."

I did think on Saturday that Charlton players were making a little more effort in letting the opposition know they were there. Whether that was just because Wycombe players were owed one from previous encounters or not remains to be seen but hopefully it’s something that wasn’t especially for them.
"As the Chairboys briefly threatened to overwhelm their hosts ... May was everywhere, an urgently cajoling influence on his teammates. His enthusiasm was infectious and proved invaluable."
"It was, not to mince words, Charlton’s reserve team, with the bench featuring regulars presumably being rested from the rigours of playing football – something they are well paid to do. They’re hardly being asked to work the night shift down a coal mine."

Passion taken out & very balanced. I also agree that it probably wasn't a red card.
Keep 'em coming, Kevin !

Notable mentions too for the indefatigable George Dobson and last ditch goal saving intervention of Terrell Thomas
The best of Saturday came from the application to the ugly and unglamorous not just the tricksy and the talented
