League table question

Does anyone know why Peterborough and Stevenage are above us despite having the same goal difference and number of goals? Is it because they have picked up more points away from home?

say this was the case after 46 games, would the table be calculated in the same way?

Bookings and Head to Head will come into play for the end of the season table

At this stage the table is pretty arbitrary and each media outlet seems to use different criteria (we are 6th on FlashScore).

If tied on points, then goal difference, and then goals scored then the EFL looks at the head to head record using the same basis.  If still tied the total number of wins during the season is looked at followed by the total number of away goals.  If still tied a complex formula based on cautions and dismissals by number and type is considered.  If still tied the EFL will arrange a play off to decide though in practice only of it impacts promotion or relegation.

Yep at the moment it's goals away from home. But there are a bunch of other things like head to head that would be first. Section 3.9: https://www.efl.com/documents/efl-handbook.pdf

Probably based on point gained from fewest minutes played. We play 100 minutes per match so we've got no chance

Maybe a fashion thing and based on how pretty the kits are.

Would time to get a beer at half time be a determining factor as well?
    We’d be bloody relegated!

Re Number 8, we're glad Inniss has left the building.

So basically its down to those 2 teams fulfilling the 6th point on that list - scoring away from home. A bit arbitrary seeing as its the first game of the season....cant all be away on the first day can we ?

I liked it when tables werent produced until the 3rd match or so. Makes no sense atm.

Away goals is a poxy tie break.

You could lose every away game but score more than someone with a better away record and you finish about them ?

How often is anything meaningful decided beyond goal difference?  They have to have rules just incase.

Your scenario suggests points, goal difference, goals scored, head to head and total wins are all the same.  It would almost be a mathematical miracle.

Anybody know the lowest on that list that they've had to go to figure out a position?
