Karoy Anderson - new contract until 2028 (p23)

His previous contract, signed in 2023, was until 2027 with a year's option, so unless there's an option, no effective change in length which is slightly odd.1

Reality is, if that is how he is mostly used, then we will likely see less of him this season than last season, unless he can oust one of the other midfielders from the starting XI. He's not at that level right now, but if he keeps training hard and working at his game he could be by the end of the season.
His new contract just reiterates how much NJ rates him, and he ticks so many of the boxes that NJ prioritizes in a midfielder.
I like his game and think it is suited to this level. He needs to work a bit on his decision making without changing his approach and this could be a big season for him.0 -
Good news about a good player.
The song ‘Since I was young’ could be sung as much about many of our players as well as our support.
Great to see Kanu and Asimwe continuing their development too.0 -

Think we may end up surprised how many of our youngsters end up in the Premier League when we look back in years to come. Anderson has a high ceiling. Think back to when Konsa was in our team.... he was good but I dont remember people predicting he would end up playing for England.1

i love the kid and would love him to succeed, his goal at Wycombe was so enjoyable loved seeing him score that, just worry that what he’s lacking , composure comfort on the ball passing ability, are the bits that are harder to develop / learn than the bits he does have

He's got better feet and passing ability than he's shown in the past few years. He's yet to shake off that erratic inconsistency that a lot of young players have in their first few seasons. But he's so aggressive and physical that if he adds that composure back, he'll be a great player.

Pope is another and probably even better example.
I think Anderson’s inconsistency is more in his head and a lack of experience. He doesn’t need to be really technical to play Coventry or Docherty’s role at Championship level, but he does need to be consistent and reduce the basic errors.0 -

A lot of that will hopefully improve with time.0 -
He has all the physical skills, ability to cover ground quickly, strong in a tackle to be an excellent holding midfielder in the championship. However, unless he cuts down on the mistakes with the ball, he will only ever be an occasional reserve at this level. The good thing is he is only 21 years old so there is time for him to develop and time for the club to decide on his future with us. If he was 24, I would question the length of this contract but given his age, it makes sense.0
