Brilliant news. I'm sure he could have got more money on a free at the end of the season, so credit to him. Just goes to show that not all players follow the pounds.
  • Whatever happens in the next few days, this will almost certainly be the best signing of the window.
  • Genuinely delighted.

I'll put my hands up and say I wasn't sure on him. The injury history concerned me, and I didn't think he was too impressive when he played last season, but he's been an absolute monster this season and quite literally everything I want from a centre back at Charlton. I genuinely think he might be the best we have had since we left the Prem, or there is at least a debate for it.

If I'm being greedy, I'd have like to see him sign a 3 or 4 year deal, but I am still happy he's staying for at least 2 more seasons.

Congrats Lloydy, well earned and a proper fan favourite 👍🏻

Well done as well to whoever got it done.
  • Didn't Nathan drop him last season ?  Rumours it was over his appearance on a tv dating show.

    How times change.

Not to my memory. He was injured. Played through the injury for some time before it started seriously affecting his performances

Has the bloke behind got a gun in his right hand quoting the line from the Godfather, either your signature or your brains will be on the contract.

The show was filmed months before Nathan Jones came in, so I very much doubt it.

  • Excellent media management annoucing it at the game.

    Very good news too.

Credit to the management team for making it happen.
Actually disagree with this. Announcing it at the game is good. Announcing it less than 10 mins before kick off meant a lot of people missed it. We have a habit of announcing contracts on game days (Bowyer and Anderson stick in the mind for some reason) which I like but I think you need to do it a decent time before
  • Fantastic news. A top quality player secured for the near future.
As was said above, the best signing of the window.

How? Even if you weren't at your seats, you would be told by the people sitting next to you.

And it was on social media straight away.
I meant on social media (should have made that clearer). There’s usually a lot of social media activity in the hour before a game so I think it got missed. Saw lots of people commenting in various places after the game that they had no idea he’d signed
  • Great news!
  • Excellent news,  our defence is far better with LJ in it,  and surprisingly useful when he gets forward 👍
  • Out of interest, I wonder what we are paying Lloyd a week to secure him.

I heard he got a good increase and it’s likely there’s a big promotion % increase too.

I expect he’s one of our higher earners now, and before he might have been closer to the middle.

And, IMO, worth it. Our record this season with him in the team, and when he was injured, are total opposites.

Far more influential than, say, Aneke, who is (allegedly) another on big wages...
  • Imagine the club posted that before he signed lol would be accused of putting him in the shop window

    Skipper in anything but name.
Really does show how much he is a leader at the back.

Nice for someone that actually deserves it to be amongst the top earners. Let’s hope he gets his promotion pay rise too!
  • Thing that stands out most from that is on it he is mentally. Doesn't seem to ever take a second out of the game, as soon as h'e completed one action he's thinking about the next
