Waterloo East to Charlton

Haven’t got the train for a while to Charlton but yesterday found there’s no direct from Waterloo East anymore.
When did this stop?

Few months ago when SE reviewed their timetable and cancelled lots of services. Its a pain isnt it.

Massively. Especially when there’s no London Bridge service from where I come in from. Thanks for that though. 👍

The government should give that network to TFL

There’s a petition for that, if anyone fancies being the 5,000th signatory: https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/633153

Whilst at a headline level (and long suffering commuter) I’m inclined to agree I also fear that TFL would fail to make much impact. The blame always seems to lie with what Network Rail are responsible for and realistically the natural constraints of the bottlenecks at the London Terminals don’t give much flexibility.

I’m not defending SouthEastern (far from it in fact) and deplore the timetable changes but am left thinking the only benefit of TFL would be at least it wound not get any worse. That is the height of my expectations.

In this case they moved the service to Cannon Street rather than cancelling it. It's about simplifying operations and reducing track conflict, but unfortunately means changing at London Bridge which isn't ideal.

TfL are broke, so have no money for the sort of improvements seen on the orbital parts of the Underground such as through the East London Line
