RIP. A brilliant songwriter. Just looking through the songs he composed the music for, an incredible list of classics and standards, including many I didn't know were his.

I found Burt Bacharach when I was about 18 or 19. I distinctly remember purchasing a 2 sided greatest hits album of his, A Slipknot album and possibly Dr Dr 2001. The look on the face of the shop assistants face was worth it. I was lucky enough to see him perform for the electric proms the BBC put on and while it was a who's who of music e people who came up and sang with him the one that will stick with me was one of his long time singers but the relatively unknownJosie James performing anyone who had a heart. Absolutely mesmerising
One of the lads at work asked who Burt was yesterday and I ran through a load of songs "but that was Dusty Springfield, but that was Dionne Warwick, but that was Elvis Costello" nope Burt wrote that. And I treated them to Mr Bacharach himself singing Alfie which is a song that always gets me.
There can't have been many more influential figures in music throughout history than him and Hal David.
Part of the beauty of his songs was they were so open to interpretation. Thus you can mention Dionne Warwick in the same sentence as the Stranglers! RIP
