strangest part of the day, sitting in the North Upper and my Flashscore app pings goal Bolton…1-2…..I show my mate and we carry on watching, they attack down the right and less than 60 seconds after the ping, they score.
f**king freaky
The TV coverage was probably ahead of the match...
They looked the best team we have faced this season. Very sharp passing going forwards and strong defensively. Not too down after that, but it is where we need to get to. Penney was slightly disapointing but to be fair it was his debut.
Lot's of chat about certain players being just not good enough.. ffs slagging off Penney, on his first game, and against one of the better teams we are likely to come up against, give him a chance to settle in, he only joined us a couple of days ago, and Bonne was about the best we could have asked for in the "Free Offers" department, although I didn't think he was so bad today up against the man mountain that is Santos. Until and if the takeover happens then we are a sleeping giant of a club sweeping up everyone's left overs, we have no money to spend, we lost today agree, to a team who will be in the Wembley shakeup come the end of the season. On to Exeter next week in the first of three winnable games...
But the defence did well with some last ditch blocks to be fair. That Santos is a monster. Reminds me of Bikey in a way and very hard to get the better of. When Johnstone went off I thought it might help us but the lad who came on was twice as good. You sort of know it isn't going to be your day when that happens.
Today’s game showed us how far we need to go in our football to be able to compete with the teams at the top. There was quite a gulf in quality between the type of football both teams played. Bolton are one of the best sides we have played at home this season and we could not match the quality of their football.
The players gave they’re all and full marks for that, but defence and attack is still lacking.

I had this too. Was super freaky. We’re in the Matrix and we still lose!
Bang average performance against a side slightly better than us, JRS miss in the second half just about summed it up. Innis is at times a liability, for a big lad doesn't win many headers. Penney looked lightweight and was no wonder Ipswich put him out on loan. Holden needs backing with a few quid, but once again an underwhelming window. Another season in the 3rd division beckons.

Got what we deserved from that. Nothing. One of the better teams in the division against the classic mid table team Apart from 10-15 mins at the start of the second half Bolton controlled the game. We battled, but never really stretched them.
It’s so frustrating the number of missed placed passes, or poor first touches and the general lack of heads up football Having said that it is what it is and we may be limited, but at least we look a bit more solid and competitive under Holden. Two or Three months ago we lose that 3-0. Today we hanging in there and could have nicked something at the end Nicked been the operative word
Reality check for anyone who was foolish enough to believe we are now a playoff challenger. Bolton much much better than us at the business ends of the pitch. We remain decent 40 yards from either goal, but neither prevent or create enough chances to win consistently.
I would say that we got into just as many good areas as they did but, while they excelled and finding space and picking out players with accurate clever passes, we, once again, excelled at running down dead ends and picking out defenders with our final ball.
Fraser the only one of our attacking players close to having that speed of foot and mind but even he does a nice line in passing to defenders when it really counts.
Hate digging out individuals, but I have to get it off my chest, I thought Bonne was shite and offered no more than Stockley would have done. And was moaning at his teammates almost as much as well. Doesn’t look to have evolved as a player at all in his time away. Still looks not quite fast enough, not quite strong enough, and not quite bright enough.
Echo all of that, especially the bit about Bonne. Thought we pulled QPR's pants down when they paid us £2m for him & nothing I've seen since has made me change my mind.
Why oh why do we always go for the wrong player. Stockton is available yet we go for another non scoring forward.
That would be the Stockton who has scored 1 goal in 20 League appearances this season yes? Absolute machine there.
Bolton were in such a mess recently they had to play their entire youth team in first team games, now they're beating us comfortably and gunning for promotion. We are still a shambles behind the scenes.

Next time, take the other coloured pill and see what happens.
Yep pretty much the benchmark of where we are and it's someway off completing for playoffs. Effort was there but just not good enough. The Rak Saki miss was costly as if that went I we may have held on. May have . DH did say lots of work to do still. Wonder what his situation will be at the end of the season when his contract expires? Another season to look forward to in division 3.
We are definitely trying under Holden but there’s a real gulf in class to the top teams in the league. I thought Penney looked very poor so we have to hope he improves. Thought subs were too late and can only assume Sess is injured still.
A horrible team Bolton and I hope they don’t go up. What I’d give for the likes of Adeboyega or Charles in our team.
Thought Penney did ok for a debut and against such a good side. He clearly likes to get forward and I am sure there is more to come.
Another game skewed by a hopelessly inadequate referee As well as that first Bolton freekick was executed it wasn't a foul, the trotter flung himself towards and over Ness's leg with zero contact - it was a ludicrous dive and blatant cheating. The ref gave wanderers everything and stuff he made up for himself for the first 20 odd minutes which helped Bolton settle down and forced Charlton onto the front foot right from the off. Referee Brook is yet another game ruining twonk currently blighting the game. For all the help Bolton got, they were comfortably half a division better than us today and if they had any quality in front of goal would have been out of sight inside half an hour. One or two determined blocks and a couple of very good saves from Ash and Charlton had the illusion of being in a contest. Bolton's formation and physical strength had Charlton completely overwhelmed in midfield. Poor old Dobbo was fighting alone against 5 while Morgan flitted around and Wheezy Fraser was M.I.A. Better choices and final balls from CBT and/or JRS might have generated end product Macca holds the ball up far better than any one else we have but he got precious little service today Penney had a shaky start and Ness's inexperience was somewhat exposed early on Inniss was a blundering fuckup waiting to happen, the only surprise was it took more than an hour to cost us but cost us he did. Holden could perhaps have changed things earlier, we certainly needed to better match up Bolton in midfield. Compounded by the back 4 being too deep all the while the ball was coming so easily thru the middle of the park. Trafford haplessly dived over Morgan's shot for the goal. 2 -1 massively under represents the gulf in class and resources today Having squandered a hatful of chances first half, Bolton were able to bring on fresh strikers 2nd half, who both passed up gold plated chances to score 5 or 6:1 wouldn't have flattered Bolton today. Losing to bigger, better, fitter teams is forgivable and inevitable. Inniss's shambles for the 2nd goal isn't. 9 points from Exeter, Fleetwood and Forest Green should be achievable and are imperative if we are to be looking up the table rather than down
Strangely I felt disappointed with the result but happy with the scoreline, because they could have put four or five past us. We put in a lot of effort, but football wise we were a long way short of Bolton. Our passing isn't always what it should be, our decision making often poor, we struggled to get into good scoring positions and our defenders don't always recover quickly enough. Despite all those things, the number one training session for next week has to be to teach Macauley Bonne about the off side law. Next up, explain to Blackett-Taylor that he is allowed to pass. I thought Maynard-Brewer was our man of the match, that's rarely a good sign. Of the outfield players, I thought Rak Sakyi was the cream of the crop though I wish he'd give Simon Church those sponge-foot boots back. For all your skills Jesurun, sometimes you just have to put your foot through the ball.
Always keep an eye on Charlton but Seems like every time I revisit your forum you have a new manager.
Thought Garner would've been given more of a chance, not sure what the general feeling was when he was sacked but my personal reaction was a bit of a sigh and 'here we go again'.
Sandgaard is not a patient owner and as some of you have mentioned... we were in total shit a few years back and have now overtaken you in terms of transfer strategy and player quality after coming back from the brink. That's not to say you weren't in the shit either with Duchatelet and Southall and co.
I always feel like Sandgaard has good intentions but has absolutely zero strategic thinking on how to run a football club. Maybe he will slowly learn from his mistakes but I fear he will run out of money to burn before that happens. Sorry to be negative once again posting here but just my personal outside bwfc perspective on your current state. Your players and managers are not to blame for your league position imo. Poor ownership is. At least TS is giving you funding but seems like money being pissed up the wall if you just sack every manager after a few months and end up with a hotchpotch of players who aren't suited to any particular style or system.
Hope to see Dean Holden given more backing than the other few managers you have so you can mount a better challenge next season. I think playoffs are probably out of reach for you this season just because of the level of quality of the current top 8.
Good luck for the future addicks, I'm sure fortunes will change eventually, we do seem to be a bit of a bogey team for you.

I obviously watched a different game because I thought Penney looked quite good. Steady & had left foot which means he can take the ball forward & cross on the run rather than stopping, turning onto his right & then passing infield.
Thought Inniss has had a few good games in a row recently, including at Old Trafford. One slip up today and some are jumping on him like a ton of bricks. That’s slightly unfair I think.
He’s been giving it his all, has kept it simple when needed, and can’t remember him wiping anyone out either. Yes he’s prone to mistakes, but most defenders are, particular in the lower leagues. He’s certainly no Santos of course; that fella should be playing in the Championship, not L1.

Bit of an understatement to put it mildly.

Penney had a poor debut. Bonnie was inefective. JRS went a went AWOL.
We completed but were second best.
Plan for next season....
There's nothing to really build from into next year, especially if Leaburn goes too.
