I knew George. He was a kind, gentle, caring man. Almost the least significant part of him was that he just happened to have won the World Cup. He will be missed.4

always seemed such a very nice man .. a surprise England selection at right back in the Jimmy Armfield era .. Alf Ramsey knew best .. very sad loss for his family especially at this time of year

RIP George, one of the best of the new bread overlapping full backs back in the day whom I had the pleasure to cheer on at Wembley in all our World Cup 1966 games bar the final (I couldn’t get a ticket😞).5

As RedChaser mentioned a brilliant overlapping full back was excellent during the 66 world cup games.

RIP George. A fine overlapping fullback which compensated for Sir Alf Ramsey's lack of wingers in his strongest final winning side.
Now George has passed away only Sir Bobby Charlton and Sir Geoff Hurst left from the final winning eleven.0 -
