  • MacGillivray: 3 - after maynard brewer put in a competent performance the other week and Brown said he deserved to continue between the sticks but unfortunately Garner listened to Curbs who said MacGillvray should be put back in. Cheers curbs.
Mitchell: 7 - can't believe how young he is. very confident on the ball.
Inniss: 4 - tried his best to give them a lead on two occasions.
Ness: 6.5 - hardly troubled on his side.
Clare: 7 - ran himself into the ground. His runs really helped to drive the team forward. shame he couldn't find a forward player to pass too.
Morgan: 5 - not his best.
Dobson: 7 - like 99% of the time he gives his all. Some great tackles.
Fraser: 5.5 - needs to work on his forward ball.
    Sessegnon: 5.5
R-S: 5.5 -tries to beat his man at least twice before he might possibly pass the ball. needs to look up more.
    DJ: 4
    Aneke: 5.5
    Kirk: 5
    Referee: 6
  • MacGillivray: 3 had so long to read the ball, and mistimed his jump. Awful mistake which inevitably causes us to lose. Get AMB in.
Mitchell: 7.5 was solid. Odd mistake, but tried to actually bring the ball out from the back.
Inniss: 5.5 first half, you would’ve thought he was the one making his debut. Dug out of trouble by Mitchell and Ness.
Ness: 7.5 see Mitchell. Thought he was solid and covered Inniss a lot.
Clare: 7.5 good going forward. Best game in a while
Morgan: 6 ran a lot. Tried to get things going
Dobson: 6.5 screened the back 3 well.
Fraser: 5.5 wasn’t quite at it today
    Sessegnon: 6 good going forward
R-S: 5 poor by his standards. Having no striker didn’t help
    DJ: 5 not good enough
Aneke: 5 worrying that he’s unable to start a game. Didn’t do a lot when he came on
Kirk: 5.5 tried but looks low on confidence. Was offside for his goal
Referee: 5 the time wasting an embarrassing. Other than that, was okay, but the flow of the game was seriously disrupted

Campbell: n/a a few decent bursts down the wing. Don’t think he’s ready
    Payne: n/a
    F-C: n/a

looking at the lineup, I was worried. Starting two young lads for the first time in the league was worrying, yet they were arguably the best players on the pitch on the night. Defensively I thought we were solid apart from a ‘that’ error and a few other errors from Inniss. Going forward we were shocking. Surely Kanu is a better option to have up top than DJ.

don’t think Garner has much longer, even if it isn’t entirely his fault.

  • MacGillivray: 4 - poor decision making lead to Cheltenham’s goal
Mitchell: 6 - played well enough in his first start, lacked pace, but positioned himself well
Inniss: 5 - not sure I’ve ever seen anyone go from commanding to calamity as quick as him, almost gave them the lead in the first half.
Ness: 6 - was composed, solid start for him.
Clare: 8 - Second half especially he was the live wire that sparked life into the side, didn’t always come off for him but lifted those around him
Morgan: 5 - the occasional good touch, but poor finishing
Dobson: 7 - the only one who could switch the play, worked hard in the middle as per usual
Fraser: 5 - lacked cutting edge
Sessegnon: 6 - was a useful option on the right a few good crosses
R-S: 6 - he has the skill and invention but is not a striker and his runs often were ignored.
DJ: 5 - had a great ball played into him first half but lacked a strikers cutting edge, out of position and looked it.
Aneke: 6 - as expected added a presence we were lacking but was unable to make anything happen.
Kirk: 5 - took his goal well, but unfortunately was offside.
Referee: 6 - was consistent although pernickety at times with centres and throw-ins, players leaving the field etc. unnecessarily so.

  • At the match:

    MacGillivray: 4 Oh dear!
Mitchell: 6 Decent. Struggled a bit first half, but grew into game.
Inniss: 6 Awful mistake, but made up for it by goal line clearance. Not good on the ball, but dominant in the air and a warrior. Injured?
    Ness: 6 same as Mitchell.
Clare: 7 Loads of energy and seemed to enjoy the freedom of playing further forward. Looks like he has picked up an injury?
Morgan: 5 Extra point (negative) for that "shot". It did bring a bit of light relief though. Maybe we should replace the crossbar challenge with a clear the Jimmy Seed stand challenge!
Dobson: 7 Usual hard working, battling performance. He should stay as captain when/if Stockley returns.
Fraser: 6 OK, but not at his best. Tries to make things happen, but it didn't always work.
Sessegnon: 6 Decent, but his injury still seemed to be bothering him.
R-S: 6 How many games does he have to play in that role before BG understands that his strength is out wide. Needs to play out wide and we need to get the ball to him more.
DJ: 5 Had his chance to impress and blew it. Shame that the good chance fell on his left foot.
Aneke: 6 Looked knackered after 10 minutes. Caused a few problems but not in dangerous positions.
Kirk: 6 I thought things improved when he came on. He should have avoided being caught offside - he was looking right down the defensive line. Good finish though.
Referee: 6 OK, but seemed a bit picky and inconsistent

Campbell: n/a Never really got into the game.
Payne: n/a Added a bit of energy and attacking threat. Should have been brought on in place of Morgan much earlier.
F-C: n/a What was the point in bringing him on in stoppage time? If Garner honestly thinks Morgan offers something better than JFC then he needs to go (Garner, not JFC, although he will be off in January).

Garner: What the hell was that starting line up all about? I thought we were incredibly lucky to get to half time level and playing Mitchell and Ness was a huge gamble. Thankfully for Garner they both had decent games. Garner said afterwards that leaving out Lavelle was not a reflection on him. What the hell was it then? Strange management bullshit comment. By the way, I am not suggesting Lavelle would have been better. I am really worried that BG has lost the plot. I have never been a big fan, but I can see few positives from his management style. We desperately need some of our better players back. Once we do I am confident we will return to the top half of the table.

MacGillivray: 4 - I was surprised that Garner reinstated him in place of AMB, given that MacGillivray will certainly be leaving in the summer to get his substantial wages off the payroll. I assume Garner thought he'd better go for experience, with two youngsters making their league debuts in the back three, but who knows what his muddled thinking was. MacGillivray's calamitous error cost us a point, although I felt the booing was a little cruel
Mitchell: 7 - an excellent debut, especially for a lad of 17
Inniss: 4 - he now seems to have at least one or two serious errors in him every game. How we survived on level terms to half time was nothing short of a miracle
Ness: 7 - a very good, steady performance
Clare: 7.5 - at his buccaneering best down the right. His lacks some finesse but his speed and athleticism is a real rarity in this squad
Morgan: 4.5 - he had a bit of a stinker, following a very good performance 6 days earlier - so typical of Albie. His shot against the Jimmy Seed Stand sign in the first half was comedic
Dobson: 7.5 - held the side together. We need to pray that he stays fit; were he to suffer a significant injury, we'd be in big trouble (or should I say, bigger trouble)
Fraser: 5 - he wants too much time on the ball and is often too easily brushed off it. Mind you, the lack of forward movement in this team would make most creative midfielders look mediocre
Sessegnon: 6 - some decent runs in the first half. Unfortunately, his long-term fitness issues mean that he often can't last for 90 minutes
R-S: 5 - a poor performance but, in mitigation, he is not a striker
DJ: 4.5 - ditto. The Cheltenham central defenders must have been licking their lips when they saw our team sheet. They can't have had an easier game all season
Aneke: 5 - unable to make any impact when he joined the fray. In fact, following a strong first 25 minutes of the second half, the game entered a lull and the fear was always that Cheltenham would nick one, even though they were effectively playing with only one man up top
Kirk: 4 - the invisible man. Apart from his offside goal, Kirk has an uncanny ability to make himself unavailable to receive the ball and to completely disappear from a game
    Referee: 6 - generally ok
