Shrewsbury Town vs Charlton Athletic
Saturday 22nd October 2022 - 3pm Kick-Off
Referee: Sebastian Stocksbridge

Introduction
Well then, is there a bit of momentum finally appearing in Charlton's season, or once again is this nothing more than the slightest bit of hope, which in a matter of days or weeks will be cruelly snatched away from us in a fashion we're oh so familiar with - The Addicks recorded an impressive 3-0 win over Portsmouth on Monday night , the score line was yes... Impressive... But its the way Charlton went about the victory that has renewed the slimmest of hopes - We now travel to Shrewsbury looking for a third win on the trot, if we truly want to be looking upwards, we need to start coming away with maximum points on the road.

The Opposition
Name: Shrewsbury Town (8th) | Manager: Steve Cotterill
Ground: The New Meadow
Previous Result: Fleetwood Town 0-1 Shrewsbury Town

Ah yes, one of the classic clubs of late who have delved heavily into the loan market and have almost found success as a result - However it makes you wonder where the years have gone, as its been five long campaigns since Shrewsbury shocked League One, where they found themselves just ninety minutes from a first spell in the Championship.

In the last few years, you'd look at Shrewsbury's business in the Transfer Market and you'd be quietly impressed - The likes of Elliott Bennett, Charlie Daniels and Chey Dunkley have been tempted to their corner of Shropshire in recent years - Of course some names have moved on, but from the outside, looking in, they've looked at team that could once again be dark horses at this level of Football again - Results on the other hand paint a bit of a different picture, with the last two seasons ending just above the relegation zone for Steve Cotterill and his men.

This campaign may be different though; Salop sit outside of the Play-Offs on goal difference, and whilst a defeat against the Addick's will see the visitors leapfrogged their hosts this Saturday, you have to accept that Steve Cotterill is once again quietly doing a decent job at this level - Salop are a side who score goals, and dont draw very often... Well with Charlton in town, that could yet change!!

Charlton Team News
Its rumoured that Ben Garner took a look at the last two CharltonLife weekend Previews, and was concerned that his starting eleven was leaked prior to it being announced - As a result he's decided to stop this inspired writer from making it a hat-trick of predictions by announcing that a first team player looks set to miss the trip this Saturday with a slight knock.

Naturally fears turn to Chuks Aneke, but if so, you'd expect the starting eleven to remain unchanged given the impressive performance on Monday night.

Wollacott
Egbo - Inniss - O'Connell - Sessegnon
Dobson - Morgan
Rak-Sakyi - Kirk - Blackett-Taylor

Substitutes Bench: MacGillivray - Clare - Thomas - McGrandles - Payne - Campbell - Aneke

I've simply guessed myself - I know nothing

No league away wins in eight. That needs to change tomorrow

If Fraser is out, McGrandles will start imo

I would imagine it was one of those subbed off. Sessegnon, Fraser or CBT. I am guessing CBT as Garner talked about why JRS was subbed but not CBT.

As much as the team and BG deserve credit for the two wins, if they are serious about turning the opinion around of how this season could genuinely play out, they need a result tomorrow.

It won’t be the end of the world if we lose or draw, but to finally get that away win and go 3 on the bounce would be a good statement of intent.

It was nice to enjoy two wins in a row, the Pompey one and the manner in which we dominated quite surprising, but we cannot let it drop again 2mo

Im sure CBT was on the ground for a minute and got some treatment not long before he came off? It could equally be Inniss tbf

    A must win.

A lot depends who the injured person is.

If we can keep the core 14 or 15 players fit we can be half decent.  2 or 3 injures, as we have already seen and the wheels quickly start to fall off.

It is a shame that one of the team from Monday is injured because we seem to be developing a style of play that suits the players and gaining some momentum at last. I would guess it's CBT or Innis.

Based on the confidence from the last two performances we should be expecting to win this even with an enforced change, but Shrewsbury are no mugs and have a good manager. Another win would be fantastic and really get our season going, but I am expecting a 1-1 draw.

This is a very tough game Shrewsbury are the form side ..and have been on a very good winning run …. After two wins a draw would be a good point …. but a win a bonus

Hmm, let's throw caution to the wind and swap Kirk and Stockley in that line up and see what happens.

At the risk of national ridicule from modern tactical experts we could throw even more caution to the wind and show them as a front 2 !!! Can u imagine…

No way Fraser could be dropped, he's our best player at the moment

Two wins does not mean we are in good form as yet? An away win is imperative. Really hate the Slop and hope this is where we finally get that win. Not this time, 1-0 to Shrewsbury and probably in the 96th minute as well.

Hate Shrewsbury. Nothing against the town... Just the team I don't like.

    1-0 deflection from a clearance.

I’d start Payne instead of Fraser personally. On Charlton Live Fraser talked about a cut on his ankle, but he didn’t talk about missing Shrewsbury though.
If it’s CBT he might start Kirk on the wing and Frazer Campbell (?) or Kanu with Stockley. Possibly.

We have to be a front foot team this game. Play it like a home game.

Quietly confident of a good performance tomorrow. Salop are in good form also, so a draw is the obvious prediction.

Up in Shrewsbury for the weekend. Rubbish weather today and Sunday, but tomorrow should be dry

We are so much better on the counter when we don't have 60% possession.  Make less mistakes at the back as well.
