Paddy Hopkirk RIP

Rally driving legend Paddy Hopkirk, who won the 1964 Monte Carlo in a Mini Cooper has passed away aged 89.

He also lent his name to a whole range of motoring accessories.

Met him at the Goodwood Revival a few years ago, a lovely guy who took time to talk to a star struck fan.

    Remember him well. Had a signed photo of him when I was a kid. He was giving them out at his stand at the Motor Show.

    RIP was the reason I was mini mad when I was little, even pestered my Dad to get an old ‘64 mini so we could paint it red, put the spotlights on the front, twin carbs; 1275 engine. even stripped all the inside out and put two bucket seats in!
