I am hoping that the management team are playing their cards close to their chests and are now on the hunt for a striker or two. Yesterdays game was like the Norwich cup game, loads of endeavour but no real threat. Stockley being singled out as a weak link fails to take on board the fact that he played his better games with Washington alongside him, if the team don't start out that way it needs to be an option for the manager, at the moment he does not have that option.
The only joy I got last year was watching Dobson play. Fully deserved POTY for putting in consistently high performances and "what a goal"! Surely he has earned his place in the team this season. Selling him will be a BIG mistake.
Find a gem of a player and then look to sell. Great tactic to gain promotion.
If we need 3 or 4 more players but can’t sign that many because of financial fair play, but selling Dobson means we can then it might make sense. Also a big part of Sandgaards strategy is signing players at a good age and a good price so that we can make profit on them to reinvest. Plenty of teams do this successfully, just look at Brentford
Dobson was the only real bright spot last season other than bursts by CBT, but maybe he doesn't fit for Garner. Gutted but if he goes at least he goes whilst his price is high
Wasn’t Alex Gilbey and Craig McGillvrey both players of the year before they came to Charlton? I’d be wary of one good season, especially under a different manager and completely different system.
Under Adkins, the vast majority of fans on here were bemoaning Dobson (and Clare) as a product of our poor ‘black box’ recruitment.
I even remember a well respected poster on here, whose views I always like to pay attention to, saying they ‘were not of the desired quality’.
Dobson absolutely excelled in that role under Jackson, and often felt like he was doing two players jobs as we were so overrun in the middle of the park. Does not mean he will under Garner where the goal will be to keep hold of the ball and win possession back much higher up the pitch.
Would I like Dobson to stay, 100% yes, but if he was to go and it meant we could strengthen attacking areas I wouldn’t be devastated. From how pre season went, how well Morgan has played, and that glimpse of McGrandles, I’m not even sure he’s in my first XI.
Yes, lets look at a successful team of similar size and be as clever as they have been. Sandgaard is a bloody genius. Makes selling your best player seem sensible.
He hasn’t gone yet and if he goes I’d be surprised if it doesn’t lead to us bringing in more than 1 or2 further signings. There are plenty of things TS can be fairly criticised for but something that hasn’t happened yet isn’t one of them.
Football finance expert Kieran McGuire saying on twitter that Newcastle have changed their policy of paying all transfer fees up front, so getting a discount, and now pay in instalments, like most clubs.
This means they agreed to pay Burnley the Pope fee in instalments which will probably mean we will get the same.
So the "Pope money" is less, in the short term, than many have thought.

Seen that happen countless times since the Michael Glikstein era…..possibly THE most frustrating ongoing negative feature of being an Addick.Football Fan😖😖😖
I’d imagine there is a lot of poker being played with various players , from various clubs BG, Gallen and the recruitment team I’m sure are a seeing things the same way as all of us amateurs,I’m hoping the professionals get it right. Obviously Mckirdy has been mentioned a lot, has he scored many in pre season, same as Stockton, although I wouldn’t be surprised if either of them havent even been targets. In the limited time we saw Stockton I thought he looked good.
If we bought Stockton, I would start getting very optimistic. Doubt we will though.
Doesn’t sound like a move south is something he relishes from a few posts in the past, but as they say, money talks, he could end up a flop but I think it would be a good gamble.

Permanent forward.
Midfielder departing.
Loaning out youngsters such as Clayden won’t free up much budget.
I guess the alternative is there’s interest in Dobson or Kirk with clubs willing to pay a relatively big fee.

A winger who scored 18 in 25 games for Palace’s reserves (u23s?) sounds like the type of wide player we need.
Perhaps he’s the one Garner’s been tracking, with his Palace connections we should have a good chance.
Surely he has earned his place in the team this season. Selling him will be a BIG mistake.
TS has done well on outgoing business so far, especially selling players when they're overvalued (Bonne for example).
