Seasons Spent In Top Flight English Football

Charlton, ranked number 35 with regards to seasons spent in top flight (26 seasons).

Good to know Palace are on 22 seasons , and Millwall are level with Darwen on 2 seasons spent in the top flight.

Surprised to see Aston Villa 2nd in the rankings of seasons spent on top flight football, might be to do with when they were formed?

The gap to Everton might be reduced next season.

It shows the size of the current clubs in L1, that there are 5 others clubs who've been in the top flight longer than us, including one in the top 10. Plus there's one in the NL...

    10 - Sunderland
    12 - Bolton
    15 - Sheffield Wednesday
    29 - Portsmouth
    34 - Ipswich

    31 - Notts County

    How is that good?
Ten years ago they were only on 13 (half our tally). They're not far off of us now. I would hardly describe that as good!

FairPlay,  clutching at straws perhaps, but they haven’t caught us up yet, just trying to cheer people up.

I know currently they are light years ahead, but footballs cyclical, and you’ve got to hope they’ll slip up sometime soon and get relegated, and Charlton will come steaming up the outside lane in their Aston Martin, so to speak, we live in hope….

Yeh, not only that but  I wouldn't bet against them being in the Prem for another 10 years whilst we languish  below.
And where does this "football is cyclical" thing come from? Sounds !Ike a myth.

Football is cyclical, you have good years and bad years depending on management, quality of players brought in.

Liverpool took what 30 years to win the league, Man United 26 years before Fergie came along.

Everton were great in the 80’s now there hanging on to staying in the premier league.

Palace are having their turn at the moment, but enough about them.

I hope not , but it might be another 15 years before we get to the premier league, none of us know!

We’ve been a broken club for years, a few days in the sun granted but no sustainability.

The current lot of players are flakey, they do well if the suns shining and the winds blowing the right way, we’ve got to aim higher than that if we want to go anywhere, not just with over optimistic words to persuade the fans to buy a season ticket, but a half decent plan.

Comparing Liverpool and Man U's ups and downs with ours and Palaces, lol

We might swap places again with Palace but currently we in a reverse situation together of around the war period. We are probably looking at a 'cyclical period' needing another 20 years.

I just hope that they don't catch us up or overtake us in FA Cup wins

Yes. In 2007 it would have read:
