    Not wishing to piss on your chips RM, but just because the scan is happening in December doesn't mean that they'll be able to schedule the surgery in December as well. Perhaps a more realistic aspiration is scan in December, surgery in January and back to the Valley in February? That way if things happen more quickly fabulous, but if it takes a bit longer, it'll feel like less of a kick in the teeth than if you were holding out for it to be sorted before Christmas. Fabulous news that the chemo is doing what it should though. Continuing to keep fingers crossed for you.

    Saw the oncologist this morning.  It's pretty much as expected. The good news is that the cancer cells have responded to the chemo, and so I will have the 8th cycle, which is 2 doses over the next 2 weeks.  
    After that, I will have an immunerotheraphy infusion every 4 weeks, which I told is less invasive. In addition, I will have a scan quarterly and see the oncologist 6 weekly. We have to be realistic in that the cancer is likely to grow. This is likely to mean chemo in the future, maybe even in 6 months' time,  but not before. I did ask about life expectancy, and he did say it is impossible to say as everyone is different.  However, he did say typically, with people with my symptoms, it could be 1-2 years. I'm not totally surprised but had hoped he may have said longer. 
    Need to make the most of it
    Will I ever see Charlton in the championship again?

    @redman I'm desperately resisting the temptation to make the obvious joke at your last sentence, as it's probably in poor taste. I'm glad that the chemo's having the desired effect, and will continue to hope that if the cancer does grow it does so very slowly indeed.

    Good luck @redman, let's hope advances in technology, which seem to be happening weekly/monthly will see a better outcome for all of us fighting this terrible disease. My thoughts  and prayers are with you
