    I don't cover it, I enhance it a bit. I don't put ketchup on seasoned food but it helps the bland stuff I find.

If you’re happy to eat significantly deteriorating food then nobody can stop you but it needs to be refrigerated once open.
    I've never refridgerated ketchup, it lasts months if not longer & no one in the household has ever been ill.
