Goodness me, real sad news. Never met Nick but that’s besides the point.
We’ve lost a great member of this forum, Charlton have lost a member of our extended family, and by the sounds of things, the world have lost a thoroughly great man.
Knew this was coming but still makes me feel so sad.
Nick has been a contributor to this forum since the very first day we opened it 16 years ago and had met him before that from the Netaddicks days. As others who were closer have testified he was such an easy person to get on with and one of those guys you always enjoyed being in the company of, or if you spotted across the concourse or the road you’d make a beeline to go over and say hello.
Aside from having great respect for him, he was one of my favourite contributors on here, making over 19,000 comments. Very few of them were wasted; informative, intelligent or superbly sarcastic. I used to love his friendly sparring him and Prague used to have knowing neither of them would take it too far and that both would get on well over a pint. He will be greatly missed on CL.

Far too young, I don’t think I ever met Nick (as far as I know) but had a short chat on here with him about his Mum teaching me at Deansfield School, which I only recalled a few weeks ago.

Such sad news and was only thinking of him on Sunday as used to spot him from my seat in the north upper.
He always seemed pleased to see you and had such a wide smile and positive nature which was replicated by his son, no mistaking they were related when we were first introduced before he grew taller than everyone.
Nick was always the friendly face to look out for at an away game or the pub if I went on my own.
Condolences to all who had the pleasure to have met him.
I got to know him and his son Ben when I was in his car on the very first B20 trip to ST. He was great company, funny and knowledgeable. We had a shared interest in WW1 and on the way home we stopped off at RE Farm Cemetery to pay our respects to “Nobby Nightingale”.
A thoroughly nice bloke and it was a privilege to know him.
