Match Thread: Charlton Athletic vs Doncaster Rovers | Saturday 30th October 2021,

edited October 2021 in General Charlton
Fellow bottom 4 dwellers Bonny Donny are the visitors today to a hopefully packed out Valley.

Even at this early stage of the season, it could be considered a 6-pointer.
If we win, given favourable results in other games, we've got a fair chance of being out of the relegation positions at 5pm.

Jacko will know that anything else is unacceptable. So no pressure then, eh?
But on the back of the Sunderland result and an impressive team performance, expectations will be high. Let's hope The Valley is truly rocking and drives on the team to victory!

Charlton: MacGillivray; Gunter, Pearce (c), Famewo; Leko, Gilbey, Dobson, Lee, Purrington; Stockley, Washington

Subs: Henderson, Elerewe, Watson, Clare, Jaiyesimi, Blackett-Taylor, Davison

COME ON YOU REDS!

No Matthews must be injured 🤷‍♂️ And good to see Elerewe on the bench.

When playing for Wales her looked pretty decent - a few give & go's and some decent crosses. I think they send back a doppelganger when he comes back from.International duty.

Looking forward to this one after Sunderland, and a chance to really set the seal on a bit of a run of victories, and of course an entertaining match with super Kevin Lisbie in the hot seat with Curbs and Scott..by the way lovely sunny day in Paris at the mo!!..COYR  B)

Assuming this is the same formation as Saturday then I don’t mind him so much at right centre back. It’s when he plays right back in a back four he’s looked poor. Same goes for Matthews, this season, to be fair.

    According to the OS:

“Unfortunately we lost Adam Matthews during the week as well. He came out of the Sunderland game with a little bit of a niggle that he’s not been able to shake, so Chris Gunter comes into the side.”

Yep although both Clare and Dobson have played in defence earlier in their careers so could fill in.

Now we know why the club release the team line up in numerical order.

Good. He's next to no use any more.
Ridiculous comment to be expected from a Sunday League keeper 😉

    OS suggesting same formation.

                      CM

        Gunter Pearce Famewo

    Leko       Dobson       Purrington

            Gilbey       Lee

         Stockley  Washington

Let me rephrase. He's useful for a half-decent game at Fleetwood. Every other appearance has been either lazy in order to hide his absent athleticism (Portsmouth) or aggressive and late into the tackle because his legs have gone (Lincoln)

With our injury list growing, this 18 is now pretty much it apart from Kirk and Soare.
So not such a big squad after all.

There's a reason Ben friggin' Watson is ahead of him

It’s clearly not, but for some that doesn’t fit the idea that the summer was a disaster.
