Maybe it’s a way of engaging young children who probably associate the queen with Paddington, after the events of the last week. Also, hasn’t the beeb got a slot to fill on Saturday night after strictly got bounced.4

It feels like next Monday will be like Christmas day when it comes to staffing etc, rather than like usual bank holidays.
Great.0 -
It reminds me of things you mention once you don't mind and people buy you related presents on that theme for the rest of your life.Swindon_Addick said:I'm genuinely unsure what to think about this.
She did one Paddington sketch in 96 years....
That said, they're brilliant films so I'm happy whenever they're on!3 -

Unfortunately mine was a ticket to a Charlton match9 -
Amazing to watch The Queen's coffin being carried through the streets of west London, so many people watching.1

My dad is a gardener on a caravan site and he has to work bank holidays normally and no exception here, so has had to take a days leave.0

Personally very happy and relieved I have the day off from work on Monday.
I won't be going in to London, but will enjoy being in my local group, drinking, singing the national anthem and celebrating her extraordinary life, and what it means to be British.
I can feel the faint watered eyes emerging on that day.
I was originally rather worried I wouldn't be able to watch the funeral and be a part of her mourning and celebration.

The employer "may"* be legally correct in their position, but I would suggest they may have missed the mood music and that from an employee engagement point of view, that is very short sighted.The_Organiser said:My dad is a gardener on a caravan site and he has to work bank holidays normally and no exception here, so has had to take a days leave.
*if not already done, get your dad to check his contract for the clause related to leave - it may be specific about the treatment of bank holidays. It's not in anyone interest to go down a legal route but they sound like the sort of employer that would be happy to do so.0 -
McDonald's is to close all of its UK restaurants on Monday 19 September, as a mark of respect to Queen Elizabeth II on the day of her funeral.
The fast food chain, which has around 1,300 outlets in the UK, said they would all be shut until 5pm on the day.

It was very moving watching the procession taking the Queen's coffin from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Hall. Impeccably carried out by all involved. It must have been very emotional being there.3

I now have the image stuck in my head of the Queen, as a young child, telling her family how much she'd enjoyed an enormous procession with everyone dressed up and loads of horses and military bands, and then for the next 90 years...North Lower Neil said:

Thanks for that.4 -
Current queue to pay respect to Queen laying in State is 2.8 miles but said to be moving quickly0
-
I've been watching the file past on tv and the queues outside are moving faster than in Westminster Hall. There seems to be a holding area in Victoria Gardens. The queue inside the hall has to come to a halt every 20 minutes to change the Watch.0

Seriously though.
How did they work out it might be a 30 hrs queue?
Even if doing 1/2 a mph the queue would be 15 miles long1 -
I think if they manage to keep on top of the dawdlers lots will get a chance to see her0
-
Right.
I'm arguing with the wife.
To clap or silence for the procession?0 -
Why would you need to F5 a live video?AFKABartram said:I’m gonna unhealthily be F5ing that over the next few days. Thanks for nothing @killerandflash !

Arguing with the wife is a fools game. Just accept her answer. Right or wrong doesn’t come into it 🙂.clb74 said:Right.

Even though its been nearly a week since her death, it still feels surreal watching her coffin going down the mall 😪3

Mrs JB got the 8:20pm train from Petts Wood and heading to London Bridge and the back of the queue with one of her friends. Will be interesting to see if she makes the last train back.3
