gillingham away will be more telling of where we're going than crewe at home, after the transfers window where we might bring in/finalse some freebies along with transfer fee signings and loans prior. same line up for crewe at home since we have no choice.0

Watson standing out as the best midfielder is a dismal state of affairs. Clare was missed, which is grim cos' he's nowhere near the much missed Pratley. Dobson looked like a very young boy amongst men, a weak slow thick little boy so far out of his depth he must be amphibious.
Full backs were alright
Kirk looked willing if not over blessed with talent. DJ has shown glimpses of talent, previously, showed none on Saturday and gave up after 15 minutes. If Adkins knew he was good for 45 minutes max why the actual fuck was he sent out 2nd half? It was clear to all DJ'd bailed out long before. If it was physical then Adkins is a pillock, if it was anything else then DJ's a prick -17 -

An issue is that our wide players are finding hard to beat their defender but if they had a full back overlapping or even supporting it would be easier for them to do so. I think Purrington does this well. Steve Brown made the point last season that Maatson was running into the space the wide man wanted. Purrington supports the wide man with an option. Currently they are on their own too much though.0

Can anybody tell me what the attendance was on Saturday.
Can't find it anywhere and missed the announcement at the game.
Looked about 11k from where I was sat in the West Upper0 -

Any one else notice how good Pratley is now he has left ?
His main ambition last season was to get more yellow cards than Watson. Well that's what it looked like.
As Rhoy Wiggins told me ? Football politics will always rear its head and we only needed one out of Pratley and Watson. TBH I'm not sure we needed either 36 year old. Watson had the second year option so Pratley went as his contract was up.
Bolton and Coventry dipped their toe into the League 2 cesspit before their renaissance saw then escape the 10pm to 10.30 slot on Quest.
I was spot on with the 7th prediction last season but I'm hanging fire until the Window closes. I can say top 2 is looking a tad unlikely !
If you can keep your head while all around you are losing there's; you can play striker for Charlton athletic.

If you playing full back you can only go foward if you confident the midfield can keep the ball long enough for you to get there, find you or someone else when you do and track the runner back when you lose it.
Fix the midfield and a lot, not all, of the other things fix themselves.
I also think we really miss the directness of Millar. You could give him the ball and it moved the whole team 10-20 yards up the pitch even if there was often no direct end result.3 -

It’s such a contrast to Bowyer who would have dropped him and slagged him off by now for letting his runner go in every game….2

It’s all about opinions I guess but from where I sit (sat) Purrington offered almost nothing in an attacking sense and Matthews looks as though he either doesn’t give a toss/has been told not to go beyond halfway/both of the above. Proper attacking left backs like Da Silva or Wiggins added so much but at the risk of exposure defensively on occasion. We have absolutely nothing like either on the books (I can’t speak for Roddy but I just have this sneaking feeling in my water that he is shit).Edit. Yes I know Purrington scored at Wembley but in general terms……..0

Don't be a Silly Billy.
Purrington was watching from the stand, so you are correct he did offer nothing going forward !!!0 -

It you look at his record Purrington gets forward a fair amount. The main problem is he is slow getting back. He is no Luke Shaw but not many players are.1

Purrington’s good at popping up in the right places, but I wouldn’t extend that to him being good actually carrying the ball forward.3
