I do wish players wouldn’t do this, almost a guarantee to be the exact opposite!

Please do your talking on the pitch, best place for it.

I do wonder whether Garner will get Clare learning how to play CB in a back 2, in preparation for Egbo's return, in case both Inniss and Lavelle turn out to be sub-optimal at this whole Barcelona from the back thing. Or whether Clare will keep the role and Egbo will become a wing-forward option
We don't want to discuss all that old rubbish, Leuth ...... just are you a vegan and do you have integrity?

I'm a pescetarian, and I'm going to protest the regime until they reopen Seabay
Me too, Leuthy. Who would have thought that we had something in common, eh?

Sean Clare joined the admittedly short list of players I've met outside of a Charlton context (the other was Bradley Pritchard) a couple of months ago in a small folk club in North London. No I wasn't expecting it either, but his Dad was playing. We had a brief chat and he came across very well. I like him as a player, and hope he does well this season. Came across as level headed and appreciative.
You've met a couple of good ones there. Bradley Pritchard is an absolute delight!

Never said meat eaters couldn't be empathetic, just that vegans usually are.

However, I'm starting to think maybe meat kills brain cells and makes people a bit touchy.
That’s the digital age in a nutshell.

    Person 1: “I like apples!”

Person 2: “Oh so you’re saying you hate oranges!”

    It’s very tiresome.

"I've always found Australians to be very friendly"

"Oh what, so I'm not friendly because I'm English?"

I wouldn’t rule out SS moving across to RB, especially if we get a LB in. Good to have a few promising options rather than Matthews and Gunter.
Especially when you consider they had 123 international caps between them.

If you listen to people on here being Welsh caps they don't matter.
Are you saying we should bring back Gunter? I wonder if he’s vegan.

Going to say it now, he will be our ‘modern day’ kishishev!

understated, composed and no qualms but very good and surely one of the first names on a team sheet- hopefully here for many years to come!

Clearly aligns with what we want footballing wise, but equally what Charlton Athletic stand for, both coming from the academy and as an ‘outsider’- year professional
Proper Curbs-style utility player. Wouldn't say one of the first names kn the team sheet, as I don't think he will play when everyone is fit. Great player to have in the squad though
  • The only issue for Clare is that usually a player who can play in a few positions but not really nail one down as his own, is likely to eventually lose his place to someone who is a specialist in that position.

He isn't going to go back to CB unless we have an emergency, and i can't see him in midfield where we're well stocked. He's done well so far at RB but until we've seen Egbo we don't really know what Clare is competing with.

Clare has been excellent - perhaps the player that has taken to Garner’s preferred patterns of play with the least issues. It’ll be tough for Egbo to displace him based on the last three games of evidence.

Mandela did play a couple of games for Swindon as one of the wide forwards if I’m not mistaken. That might be his best route into the team with the way Clare is playing atm.

He’s my early sneaky choice for POTY.

Sean Clare looks ahead to Sheffield Wednesday

  • Interesting that two players fans can't get enough of at the moment are Clare and Dobson. This time last year they were poster children for our terrible transfer business (why are we signing League One rejects?!). I'm not saying that there weren't problems with how we signed players in that window, but it just goes to show that a bit of time to settle and suddenly players can show you why Gallen and the rest wanted to sign them in the first place.
Both excellent .  I maintain that Clare has had to go back into defence to show his worth, however , but he is very good there.

100% Clare wouldn't get in our squad as a midfielder.  Either more luck than judgement or genius levels of visionary long game playing.  I really think he could play in the championship at right back.  If he wants to.

Clare had an absolute stormer last night.
He looks a better and more confident player this season after his recent surgery.
Such a clean as well last night.
  • Such an important player for us, has really made that position on the right his own too. He seems to be one of the real leaders of this squad, surprised he wasn’t given the captains armband.
  • Why did he limp off?

He had a major fall during the first half (into the opposition dugout) but seemed to recover, but after about 55 minutes was really struggling and went off straight down the tunnel.
  • People around me were saying yesterday he was becoming a bit of a Charlton legend. I can't disagree. Hard to imagine how Egbo gets the spot unless rotation is factored in
