Well played England great tournament. The future is very bright with all the youngsters coming through. I think we're gonna be there or thereabouts in upcoming tournaments.. Despite the lottery of penalties I thought Italy just shaded the match

Its a harsh moment for Rashford as his penalty wasnt even saved

Two inches to the right and it goes in

The players don't deserve any criticism for the penalties. They shouldn't have been put in that position with only 2 touches on the ball during the game. And such a young player to take such a pressured penalty.

Absolutely gutted... Not sure why rashford, who is devoid of any confidence, is taking a pen and grealish, who is on top of the world atm, isn't

I don’t blame the youngsters. Saka, Sancho and even Rashford are the future of international football. Fair fucking play for them having the balls to step up and take one.

Youve gotta look at the experienced Pros. Pathetic.

Never understand why finals can’t be replayed 3 or 4 days later but no complaints otherwise; the team did very well throughout and came up against a very good side.
  • Sad to say but Italy deserved to win over the course of the game. Penalties are always a bit of a lottery, and we lost. It's just too bad I'm afraid. I reckon we'll come roaring back in next year's World Cup though.

But for now, congratulations to Italy.

Penslties are shit. Italy took that game by the scruff of the neck after 30 minutes and we struggled to get back.
FFS. Our first final in 55 years and we're attacking the youngsters? They'll only get better. Thank you England for a fantastic journey.
    Well said

Raheem Sterling, Luke Shaw, Jack Grealish you should be ashamed.

If that’s not their decision then fair play but sometimes you just have to step up.

England don’t have players willing to step up.
I think you’ll find Kane Maguire Rashford Sancho and Saka we’re all willing to step up

The sad reality is we’ll struggle to get a run like that again. I know we’re a fantastic side with a manager who really wants it. I just think this was such a class opportunity to break the curse.

it hasn’t happened and im guttted.

I’ll be honest, as much as he’s been slandered during this campaign we missed Foden big time.

I love England. Im proud of them.

If anyone gives Saka abuse we should form a gang and find the abusers and hit them.  Really hard.

Gutted but loved watching England's progress in the tournament. A semi-final and a final in two consecutive tournaments is so much better than we've been used to so although it's a sickening way to lose out in what could be our best ever chance to win something, we've made a brilliant improvement in recent years. Well done lads and roll on World Cup 2022!

I'm guessing some people on here have had a few drinks tonight - some "tired and emotional" comments.

We got to the final, it went to penalties, they missed two - we missed three, they win.

To coin a phrase I detest, "we go again" in Qatar.

Rashford Smashed a pen in against PSG
In the last minute, so no surprise he took one.

Harsh but Southgate came out second best, Mancini made the changes to alter the game and he didn't react.

He had played for 90 minutes in that game.

    Not 2.

I would guess that Southgate spent a lot of time practicing penalties in training and went with the 5 best performers.

Really dreading the shit those young players will be subjected to on social media.

I’m pissed up I’ll be honest.

I do think we should’ve been able to put together 5 better takers than thats. Maguire and Kane burrows there’s. Experience is absolutely vital in PKs.

I consider Mbappe one of the best in the world. Even he couldn’t convert.

The pressure is Imense. Don’t blame the youngsters.

Grealish gives it the big one all the time, playing up to the fans and thinking he is Gazza 1990. Comes to the crunch and fucks right off like a fucking coward and let’s Saka step up in his place.

We had a fantastic opportunity and it felt Gareth was slow to react  from HT onwards. Mancini definitely out thought Gareth with the changes.

Great pens from the two Harry's but it does make you wonder why Sterling didn't take one but because of social media the racists will have a field night with Saka, Rashford and Sancho's shockers.

Can't we just toss a coin because at least then we have a 50/50 chance.
