This feels very different from the 3 previous semis I've seen England in
In 1990 and 1996 it was up against the major rival Germany, but as importantly whoever won that match would be favourites to win the final (Argentina and the Czechs were nowhere near as good). Both games felt like THE big challenge
In 2018 our semi was tough on paper, AND the French would be overwhelming favourites against us in the final. Two massive challenges
This time we have a winnable looking semi and a final where the Italians are good, but nothing to fear

Very much in the same boat. I have to say I’m more worried about Denmark than Italy. It’s the psychological thing of getting past a semi (no not that type!). But I genuinely believe this group of players are fearless. I’d such a good opportunity to win this. Just don’t fuck it up….
Shitting myself now. More to this than a game of football. If we can win this the feel good factor will go along way towards economic recovery. Win this then win a few Olympic gold medals... crisis over 😳
No issues with the starting 11 but is Chilwell now injured ? As we have two keepers on the Bench and Chilwell is a like for like Sub for Shaw if he gets injured.
I can't argue with that side, though might have swapped the right back to Trippier or James as I'm not sure Walker is that good a RB for England, and seems better as a RCB now for England

we have to have 2 keepers on the bench. Southgate prefers Trippier there it seems
Shitting myself, nerves have got worse as day has gone on! I'm old enough to remember the 66 World Cup win!!
Yeah I was really calm all throughout the day, now I'm beginning to shit myself
Since the Sweden win at the World Cup I came away from the pub, and remember posting on here that Southgate needed to be given the opportunity as he was showing signs of putting a squad together - Really want to see him do it.
Nervous but feeling positive. Seeing England in a semi final has been a rare thing over the years. I'm treating this game like the play off final two years ago, I'm going to enjoy it and try not to get too downbeat if we lose.

Not as old but at least you are one of the lucky ones to see us win something. 1990 I cried as a boy, don't really remember Mexico 86 . To see England win a World Cup must have been amazing. I'd settle for an England Euro win and then a WC.
I’m one of the lucky ones who seen us win the World Cup. Just hope we can do it tonight just so that those who haven’t can have the pleasure of seeing England win a major cup once again after 55 years of hurt.

Had it not been a problem I bet he'd have potentially played against the Czech Republic
Because he didnt, there has now been a reluctance to throw him in cold for a knockout game.

But I know 4 mins after kick off I'll have no fingernails left already.
