Had a new business pitch presentation to give this am. Croaked my way through to the point it would have sounded more natural if I sung ‘I see trees of green....’ at them instead.

Amazing article written by sterling back in 2018.

England is still a place where a naughty boy who comes from nothing can live his dream."

Am I the only one who thought the Sterling decision was soft, but still a penalty?

You can't come across the back of a player's legs and make contact in the box.

Reminds me of that soft Chris Gunter penalty from last season, where he just brushed the player's legs, causing him to trip over his own feet. So soft, but it's still a penalty.

I collapsed in a heap on the floor in tears at the end (Mr O had to go out & put the goats & chickens to bed alone).

I had no realisation the penalty was that contentious or controversial until I saw tons of comments online from bitter anti-England trolls.

God I want us to stick it to absolutely all of them on Sunday.

The social media outrage has been great but now it's just 15 year old Americans and other kids/ twats that have no knowledge of the game with the whole

Haven't seen too many Danes crying about it (but haven't looked too much tbh).

About the night, bitter sweet victory for me. Amazing and can't believe that I finally get to see England in a final, absolutely gutted that I'm stuck here in Madrid, would give anything to be back home with my boys on Sunday.

    Where's the bank holiday though?

Come on Boris, you love England so much. We're seeing you getting photoed in that shirt every single hour. Do it for the country.

It was that hand of God that pushed Raheem over. He had been feeling guilty for the last 35 years.

Thinking ahead to the final already - but what to do with the side? Players will be tired buy we do have such depth to be able to hopefully go fresh at the Italians.

Henderson is one in my mind I think Gareth may go with. He has big game experience in the centre that Rice and Phillips dont.

Not saying I think he should, but could Henderson come into the middle?

Also Trippier coming back, with 3 at the back?

I can't see GS dropping one of his midfield pairing for the final when they've started every game up until then. I think they've earned the right to play.

It's likely we'll go 3 at the back, I think.

Hope they find whoever used the laser and ban them for life.
Don't think it impacted the penalty as he managed to save it but if it had gone straight in I do wonder if the result would have been overturned.

So we only went 3 at the back against Germany to match up with them.

Italy play a 4-3-3 so logic dictates we'd go 4 at the back.

The problem we have is that we need to give Shaw and Walker more support when the other team push their full-backs up. Shaw was in quite a bit of trouble throughout the game last night because of this. This was apparent against Denmark because they were playing 5-2-3. So they had a winger and a wing-back up against our full-back.

The other option being to try and take the offensive and keep the full backs pinned back to stop them pushing forward. Italy's defence hasn't really got someone as quick as Walker so you'd think the likes of Sterling and Saka would love having some gaps to run into... In theory.

Italy play a lopsided 4-3-3, allowing the left back (Spinazzola/Emerson) to get up and down the flank at will but also cutting inside to create a diamond four with the midfield three occasionally too.

The right back (Di Lorenzo) often will stay solid and compact alongside Bonucci and Chiellini and allow an attacking right winger (Chiesa) to maintain the width on the opposite flank.

Shaw v Chiesa, assuming that’s who plays, will be a gripping 1v1 battle for the most part. It’s how we combat their roaming left back that will be interesting to watch Southgate work out.

What a night, I am loving that we are being seen as the 'cheating' side. It's complete nonsense and we can play ball. Got people who genuinely believe it was a 50/50 game and penalties would have been fair, Jesus wept.

Other than a spell for them in the first half they parked up, I loved the way we played. The only issue at times is where we need someone in the box, like Kane he's doing someone else's job. I know we're in a final but I still see Stones and Maguire run more successfully with the ball than Phillips and Rice. Don't change what works and all that but we are against a different beast next game where crosses will be even less effective than against the Danes imo and we will need quick links of play to open them up.

But yeah just what a night, really feels like it's us against the world, I always knew England were disliked but not this much, it will literally ruin so many people if we win, let's hope it happens
  • England have been charged by UEFA

The laser pen during the penalty, the booing during the national anthem and fireworks going off are all reasons

I suppose the charge against England for the laser pen, is that insufficient body checks were carried out on entry which I get. Didn't see any fireworks inside the ground (a few let off down Wembley way when we walked back) but if true again its down to insufficient body checks which I get. I didn't boo the Danish anthem, as I have no grief with them, think they are lovely people, and think that even more after seeing them last night. But to start punishing for booing ( and for certain things only) is just plain daft. The FA have done a lot of comms to counter booing national anthems and  can't see what else they could do.

    Dont even remember that...

Fair not to give us anything, Mount was clearly cheating by forcing the Danish player into the backpass

    What a scheming b*****d!!

Unbelievable. He had a poor game, not a foul for their free kick, never a yellow for Maguire.

Not to mention how Delaney got away with about four fouls

Right out of the school of Darren Pratley coaching that

Weak FK - Lead to Denmark goal
    No back pass given
    Delaney about 6 fouls unpunished
Poulsen two cynical fouls - No yellow
    Maguire Yellow for literally nothing
    Allowing obvious time wasting
No added time in first half

It was just a shocking referee.
