He talks about wanting to prove a lot of people (namely Sunderland) wrong. That’s exactly the sort of character we want in a new recruit; young, hungry and a point to prove.
I really like this signing, I have a feeling he’s going to be a fans favourite - something we severely lacked last season.
It's nice to see we are bringing in players on contracts rather than season long loans. Hopefully they'll be decent and we'll get some sort of stability.
Exactly what we need at the base of the midfield 3, no frills but good energy breaking up play and playing simple passes into the feet of the more advanced players. Will allow Morgan and Gilbey more licence to get forward.
Think we will be pleasantly surprised with George, also have heard has a very good work rate and reads the game well, that will benefit those around him.
Welcome to the Valley George Dobson. I hope you hit the ground running (important for Cafc) and have a successful and enjoyable time.
Considering I watched the highlights on Quest and watched both Wimbledon games and maybe one of the Pompey games on Charlton TV i didn't know of Craig MacGillivray or George.
Stockley was a good signing and don't see any reason Craig and George won't be too.
3 players in and quite a few needed especially a couple up front if Ronnie is relocated as well as replacing our top part time scorer from last season Chuks.

Interesting that, cheers for posting - seems a pretty balanced viewpoint, that, encouraging that the guy thinks Dobson basically did pretty well when played in his correct position.
If he is a good player, then why did they release him from his contract. Are we just picking up other teams duds to make up the numbers on the cheap.
Stockley we paid a fee for and was banging them in for us last season. MacGillivray turned down a contract from Pompey Dobson is the only one that seems to be coming from a club that no longer wanted him
Just because fans at 1 club dont rate a player doesnt mean the player wont do well at another club. Take McGeady for example the bloke could string a pass together for us but blew them away once he went back to Sunderland. The bloke can obviously play or he wouldnt have been through the youth set up's that he has, he is only 23 loads of time to develop, this for me is the ideal type of signing that we should be doing
Just having a look at his stats in Wyscout and can say the following
With the exception of last season he averages a booking every 4 or 5 games - so he likes a tackle or two. He was in the top 10 for "Recoveries" and "Counter pressing recoveries" - really important that he seems to be a ball winner which is essential for those all-important transitions 21st in the division for "Progressive passes" ie passes that go towards the opposition's goal 28th in the division for "Passes"
His passing tends to go forwards more frequently than backwards and sideways, he wins the ball frequently and likes a tackle. Sounds like he's all action to me. I'm off to watch some of his highlights and lowlights and will see what i can see
Charlton's biggest failing last season was the shocking home form and specifically the amount of goals conceded. We came third on goal difference to Hull away from home.
This was mainly down to having no one in midfield who could protect the defence, as well as injuries to key defenders leading us to playing Gunter, Pratley, Oshilaja and Pearce at centre half.
Plus of course the tactics that also left us wide open through the middle.
If Dobson is effective as the defensive midfielder (like Bielik was), it will be a massive plus.
Dobson seems genuinely buzzing to sign for us. Really nice to see, think he'll be well up for it.
The only positive for not being in the Championship is we can sign a lad from the freezing North east who didn't settle in Sunderland (yes the Pope is Catholic) who on all accounts was decent in League1 on loan at the Dons. Being at Cafc will be a step up for the lad and that is no disrespect to Wimbledon who have been a beacon of light in their phoenix from the Ashes story.
Joe Pigott would've told him about the positives about joining Cafc even though we are a different club since his long association with Charlton.

Not sure the Pigott has too many good things to say about Charlton.
Can't really remember him from the Wimbledon game but going by his stats he's a significant upgrade on Pratley and looks to be just what we have been needing in midfield.
These stats are Dobson: 29 games (4 as sub) Vs Pratley: 39 games (5 as sub)
20 more interceptions and 7 more tackles in 10 less games yes please.

Sunderland fans do not seem happy about how their club is currently being run.
Nigel Adkins and Steve Gallen were reading the Sunderland fans forum - that convinced them that Dobson would be a key signing.

Either way, he sounds like the man to add a solid base to our midfield as people say.
