Which of our many recent managers brought him in? Adkins?0

Christ, you've got me flicking through my CAFC manager filofax to find the answer to that one ther has been so manyKap10 said:Which of our many recent managers brought him in? Adkins?Surely got to keep the bloke, been the best midfielder for how many seasons now?2 -
For me Bakinson is left out of those 3. I think he’s done okay but I’d prefer to see Watson in there although that does leave us a bit lightweight. I can’t see how you drop Dobson right now. I really don’t rate Tennai Watson and Edun. Edun works hard and gets in decent positions and gets a lot of the ball but nothing much ever comes from it. TW just looks like he’s playing a league above his ability, both are shocking defensively.killerandflash said:Playing 3 workhorses in midfield doesn't work unless you have brilliant wingbacks to provide the attacking threat. Someone has to make the hard decision who out of Dobson, Coventry and Bakinson will be left out on Saturday.1 -

if that is true then he needs to go. Same with TC.1

Weird move if true. He has a young family doesn't he?fenaddick said:

Seems like such a backwards step.
We've spent money to sign 2 players that are a sideways move from Dobson anyway.
Yes Bakinson I'm sure looks great as does Coventry, we could have just signed one.
The money on the other could've been spent on wing-backs or a striker rather than a position we were fine for with Dobson.2 -
They need to swap roles...Croydon said:The new role further forward doesn't suit him and I've seen nothing from
Coventry to suggest he's worth moving our most consistent midfielder out of position for3 -
Unless Dobson just wants off, of course?SELR_addicks said:Seems like such a backwards step.

If true, you can hardly blame him. Good luck to him.0

Who wouldn’t0 -
Is Ned Holmes, and the FootballLeagueWorld a reliable enough source?0

Dobson choosing to leave, I entirely understand.
Dobson choosing to go to Hungary still feels really random. Apart from anything else, how did he come up on the radar of a Hungarian team anyway? They've got no other English players or ones I recognise have played over here, they don't have a manager or owners with British connections.4 -

What if the improved offer was an extra £500 a week for a year, way below the likes of Kirk was getting? When he wants a two year contract on a similar figure to some of the others.0

Agree. The whole thing is bizarre (if true). I don’t think a single English player of any note plays there. I don’t think either that his strengths that we most value in him are ratedkillerandflash said:Dobson choosing to leave, I entirely understand.

anywhere near as important by HU fans. There’s a tradition of playing a
much more technical game there. He won’t be adored, and won’t fit in. I wonder who he and his wife will socialise with. His agent is clearly a **** who could not get Champ interest but wants his payday no matter..3 -

Call me naive as I don't really know the role of an agent, but if no Championship clubs are not interested in Dobson, maybe that's because they don't think he is good enough, and not because his Agent hasn't been 'selling him'?2 -
yeah maybe no one else in this country wants him, therefor he's either got our offer or the Hungry offer...seems a strange one though
his agents job is to seek out interest knowing he's coming to the end of his contract, guessing that's the best he could do0 -

He certainly seems to fit at Charlton and he's a 100% player, however he definitely has his limitations and I can see why many wouldn't want him (certainly in the Champ)
To be clear I want him to stay.1 -
Just can't see it happening unless they've offered him silly money.0

I don’t see why it’s such a ridiculous idea, he could realistically be playing European football if he goes…Chunes said:Just can't see it happening unless they've offered him silly money.0 -
Most probably in the Conference, and on recent record, all over by August. Then it will be back to playing in front of 500 at Ujpest.AberystwythAddick said:

If he were going to the Championship I'd say fair enough. But Hungary?Stu_of_Kunming said:

The relocation and upheaval of his family would eat into any increase in salary he'd be likely to get. So clearly isn't something he'd want to do unless he felt like we were offering way below his value.2 -
Unless the lower taxes make it a large increase in take home pay?0

Surely there is the 3rd option of just staying into the summer, then seeing what offers come up? Nobody can force him to leave in January, and unlike CBT who was "injured" before he left, Dobson is still playing and giving his usual all.SELR_addicks said:

Or maybe he thinks living in another country might actually benefit his family. I certainly do, it’s not that hard to believe.SELR_addicks said:

You can understand it if he was going to France or Spain or Italy or Germany ...........but Hungary - he must be completely off his trolley. You wonder if he's actually been to have a look. Id be amazed if he's not back in the UK within a season. I think its a bonkers move, but his agent will have made a fee so he'll be happyStu_of_Kunming said:

Man love for Dobbo and will miss him tons if/when he goes. May not be the most technically gifted but when his tail is up, he turns on some style while he guarantees running through walls for the team and fans every game. I struggle to believe this link is true but if so and it happens I hope he can build a network of friends and support quickly to ensure his family settles and can get the most out of the experience, particularly the kid, education etc wise. That said if the kid is very young, may be at nursery learning a second language (after Essex) it won’t make a great deal of difference long term. Will have no ill feeling toward him if and when he goes. If he is going, it will be because the pay masters are not meeting his expectations and I would do the same in his situation.6
