Colby Bishop from Accrington was mentioned also .
Wasn't Bishop just an idea rather than an actual link?
Not hopeful, I actually had to Google him ha ha.
Just heard we have shown interest, what ever that actually means. I would guess we probably have about 10 left backs on lists somewhere?
Declan John isn't a bad 'prospect' if we can still call him that, he's 25 and never really featured much consistently for any side though, sort of like Ryan Innis. I would take him simply because I think Purrington is good enough to go up with in this league anyway with an average back up, similar to Lewis Page.
My ideal pick is obviously Connor Ogilvie though, that would be some coup.
Done a bit of a check and it seems like Bolton fans seem pretty convinced they will be getting Declan, won promotion with them last season. Wigan fans also saying they are in for him.
Bolton are a side I've got my eye on similar to how I mentioned Blackpool this season on another thread, I feel they could be a bit of a dark horse side
No real surprise that all and sundry wants Stockley after his show for us, thing is I think he stated at the end of the season that he would love to sign permanent for us, now, if we could just get our fingers out of our arses and actually do some business before all our targets get lured away, great
Given that we haven't missed out on a single confirmed target yet I really wouldn't panic. Speculation only so far.
Not to mention I'd wonder if we've missed out because we're offering shite wages or whether because we're trying to chase bigger targets - e.g. Jack Whatmough would have been a good option for us but who'd be complaining in Virgil Van Dijk signed instead, exaggerated example I know but hope people get my point.
Understand a slightly exaggerated example and I do get your point, my point is though, nothing is happening is it, are we trying to overstep the mark in signings, I doubt it, but we seem on the face of it to be just sitting on our hands, at least that is my impression for what it is worth. All the contract offers have so far come to nothing, Chuks still seems to be aiming high, It is probably frustration, and maybe I just need another beer and chill, but it ain't easy
Not seen anything to suggest that.
Club has stated that players have been offered deals.
Adkins has said repeatedly that they are working hard and that he's not taking a holiday.
Lack of observable activity does not mean they are "sitting on our hands".
Agree mate - I believe in our new set up - exciting next few weeks
I think we have to take into consideration that the play offs only just finished last weekend and the time of the close season. I think deals being done now are the exception to the general trend. I also think that Adkins etc are working extremely hard to secure who they want. Just because nothing’s happened as yet, I bet that’s not for the lack of trying. Give it a couple of weeks and let’s see.
I am not surprised Pompey are in for Stockley. I would love to get him permanently.
The challenge with nothing happening is that it all just leads to speculation. Invariably, that speculation lends itself to a negativity bias of some sort, ie, we’re missing out, we’re not paying enough, and I’ve even seen some tweets doubting TS is the real deal to back his Prem in 5 years statement. He should put in what he feels comfortable. I don’t expect anything. Whether or not what he feels he needs to put in is enough to get us promoted remains to be seen
Personally, I think he needs to put fees/wages in to cover 11/12 new players, but I doubt he sees it that way. I would imagine he probably thinks it may be 6/7 more (including loans). I have nothing to base that on, other than opinion.

Given there hasn't been a single confirmed target that's not very impressive.
What is curious, more than worrying, is none of the out of contract players have signed, or at least been announced. If they all don't we will have a much longer shopping list.
We've no idea of what's going on behind the scenes, though. Just because there's been no fanfare of announcements, it doesn't mean nothing's happening or players already signed.
Anyway, I can't understand why the club hasn't made it a priority to ensure the impatient or anxious of Charlton Life get secret ITK information.
Hope we don’t miss out on Stockley. Particularly to Portsmouth!
Again, not panicking, but other league one teams are announcing players. With the amount we need through the door and with pre season only 3 weeks away, will we sign anyone this week?

I hope so.
The new set up is untested under "normal" transfer conditions so the onus is on them to deliver the squad that is going to, in TS's words, "blow the league away".
Personally, I think is a big ask but we shall see.
In the end they will be judged on the deals made and the results achieved over the whole season rather than how much business has been done in the first week in June.
Hope we don’t miss out on Stockley. Particularly to Portsmouth!

Like I said it is curious, not worrying. We have only heard that Chuks has other offers on the table from JC and nothing else remotely "officially".
I don't think announcing JFC and Pearce have signed new deals would increase season ticket sales, or be significantly important to make an event out of.

That's ok then, why should the club announce anything that may be of interest to the clubs supporters, whether that is a "minor" matter of JFC, Pearce, or anyone else taking up a club offer of a contract, unless it is of benefit to the club directly. I am confident that the club is working hard behind the scenes, but surely any news however significant is of great interest and benefit to all parties, not just the club.

The Cameron Borthwick-Jackson that had almost all his loans cancelled at the earliest opportunity and is only a year younger that "old Ben" and Oldham have released, or a different one?
The lad has completely lost his way. I thought he was quite good at Man United but its been massively down hill for him since. Its quite sad actually but an upgrade?
Perhaps with the season just finishing a lot of the players have been on their holidays?! It's like everyone is part of the millennial generation where they need everything here and now at the click of a button.

It's funny with Cameron. I remember when I went to Scunthorpe on the Tuesday night game? We lost 5-3 and CBJ scored a brace against us and got Motm and I immediately thought fkn hell, why couldn't we have signed him. Fast forward and he has done nothing since and a level below.
Similar player that same season was Ryan Haynes for Shrewsbury against us. I thought he looked absolutely incredible and thought he would be a great signing at the time, again level below.
Still not concerned that we haven't signed anyone yet. Out of contract players are still getting paid by their (old) club until 30th June so they are in no rush & probably mulling over their options.
Might start getting twitchy in 2 weeks time if there had been no announcements & ideally would like to see 3 or 4 signings by the time pre-season starts.
Might be going ape shit though in 6 weeks time........

Same here, absolutely no need to panic yet. Players will be on holiday, considering offers, weighing up what they want to do etc. Think as it gets nearer to the start of pre-season we'll begin to see transfers happening as players get ready to start training for their new clubs.
Bumped into an incoming engineer at work this morning and he is a pompey fan, told me there are strong rumours there that they are after Stockley, he said he once played for them before moving on.
